I never expected Jodha Akbar to come up with a great episode like today's.
And the episode belonged to one and only Akbar aka Rajat Tokas. His acting was so brilliant in the confrontation scene that i could not get my eyes off his face lest i miss his expressions.
People may say that a husband is wrong to hold his wife's hair, raise his hand to slap and punch her, yes he is but today a husband was not standing there and asking questions. It was a heartbroken desperate passionate lover.
Its easy for us to say that he should not do this or that, but it was a highly charged emotional confrontation. Jodha had nothing much to lose she had made her choice her choice was sujamal her brother.
But Akbar, he had his life his love everything at stake today. Imagine a person changes the way he is for another human sake and after changing suddenly that person is going away from him he discovers that person may have never loved him, cared for him, prayed for him. He was just playing with your emotions making a fool out of you. We only saw his anger towards his wife but what about his heartbreak, people die when rejected, people give up will to live when rejected, they drink, gamble, become addicts when rejected but we must appreciate jalal he may have wanted to just crumble and scatter away but he is an emperor, he is a son, a brother, a husband, a friend only than an human being. He lives for all others first and last for his own happiness that is why after that terrible betrayal(so called) he is still sane still alive. I would apprecaite him for that not many could do that given the circumstances.
What had Akbar not done for jodha like he said his family turned against him, his friends turned against him, ministers turned against him, religious turned against him but yettt he never budged. He allowed jodha the freedom to follow her religion, customs etc even he accepted her religion, practices, customs so that she accepts him. He who never gave up his ego never bent agianst any human bent to jodha, everyone would run behind him for love and acceptance he ran behind jodha despite all her ghrina, all her apmans, her pushes and shoves, her misbehaviours in front of bandi's and gaurds, family and friends. He gave his fav fort so her sister marries, risked his life to save hers from tiger, kept quiet when people misbehaved with him in amer when he went for her sis wedding etc but still she refused to accept him, to acknowledge his love and care.
She even kept quiet about meeting another man that was 16th century where husband killed wives for flimsy reason and no judge/king could acta against it as it had social/society sanction.
But when jodha never told him that she was going every night to meet a unknown man(unknown to jalal) and even today he said my heart says to trust you and she refuse to atleast say he is my family member. Do not say he is sujamal say he is my family known to me from birth is that also bound by vachans???
And shivani already ran off with tejwant on wedding night with his brother? So when his mother, daima, wife ruqaiah all have adviced him to keep quiet and wait and girls lie to hide things why shall he not assume its her lover?
Even today he asked so many times my heart still trust you please tell me who is that man who is that man? He was literally begging there and jodha not once consoled him or told him who that is? So how can he not assume it must be her lover? that is why she is quiet?
Who in world stays quiet if it is family or relatives, we will shout from roof top he is my bro do not dare say he is my lover. Jodha kept quiet.
And remember this Akbar had allowed one of his wives to marry her lover he is not a sadistic beast who will kill a wife/cocubbine just because they hurt his male egooo. Even today any other king would have killed his wife to save his honor but no Akbar again showed why he is great and let her go back wherever she wanted. If sujamal(so called lover) had not lied and come as khwaja sera annd lived with his sister and wives in his house(harem) may be akbar would have let go sujamal and married him off to jodha too if she wanted soo.
Todays episode had a stand out performance and that was rajat tokas as jalal
The top 5 scenes were
1) When jalal showed his heart and said i thought i did not have heart but my heart is saying to give you chancee
2) When jalal bent a bit and said i never bent in front of anyone but i bent to you. i bent in front of your go and always wished that your prayers come true when actually you were praying for that man. What a fool i was and bangs his head
3) When jalal desperately pleads her pls answer me, for your god sake, family sake, whomever you loved sakeee
4) Jalal's terrifed screams as his heart broke again and agian as jodha said she knew man from childhood and loved him. I mean imagine you love someone to death and that person does not care for you and was cheating and fooling you all along.
5) When jalal told her to leave the mahal words refused to come out of his mouth he took lot of time to say chale jahiyeee
Any other human would have told truth or atleast hugged him to cool him down. Thank god he did not break down mentally elseee Jodha would have regretted staying mum.
Note: I have not added any other scenes or character analysis because it is not worth commenting in front of confrontation scene. Its like comparing olympic race to school level race. All other scenes were mudance scenes that occur everyday in this and many other serials
Note2: I never thought of this from a female eqaul rights point of view. Jalal holding her hair, raising his hands, punching etc these in some sense may be gross on part of an husabnd from 21st century not in 16th century. Even in 21st century given circumstances and psychology point of view what jalal did was very less very mild not at all gross. Its like hum uff bhi kare toh katal mana jayega aur woh katal bhi kare toh uff bhi nahi samjha jayega (Even if i blow wind its considered as murder and she killed me but world did not consider it even as wind blowing)
