Maan Karate combines elements like fantasy and the regular brand of commercial entertainment in true Siva Karthikeyan style. We also have the sporting angle with Siva being the quintessential underdog taking on a mighty champion. On the whole, the movie is definitely watchable, with some amount of suspension of disbelief, for the many segments of entertainment that it offers. Verdict: Siva Karthikeyan's entertainer to beat the summer heat

The movie might be the commercial cinema that we want, but falls flat on a lot of aspects. Taking sport as theme the screenplay takes a toss with the second half of boxing matches making you scratchy. The first bout is a copy of Charlie Chaplin's City Lights movie, only not convincing enough! Film makers in commercial cinema do look for the least bit of logic, and with a serious sport as good as boxing the climax is made too much dramatic to bear Ergo, Maan Karate takes you on a joy ride with Siva's rib licking timing through the first, ceases to do the same in the second half. Verdict : Barring the boxing sequences, a good watch!

The storyline is good but the execution could have been a lot better. Thirukumaran's inexperience in handling a goodstory is visible in his screenplay. He taken the logics for granted and tries to convince us that a man can achieve anything if you insult and challenge him.But the biggest problem is the second half. The screenplay fails to keep you engaged here. The director could have worked harder to ensure to carry forward the momentum created by the first half.

Making use of AR.Murugadoss' story, Thirukumaran could have worked harder on the screenplay to bring out a convincing product. Instead, we are led to a fun first half, which is followed by a highly predictable and clich ridden second. Things like the lewd comic scenes and forced song inducements do not work in favor of the film either. Thanks to the reach of its main lead and the heavy buzz, Maan Karate will cross the bar. The later stages, are left at bay. Verdict : This boxer packs a punch which is half as powerful.

It is difficult not to wonder what the heck the writing team must be smoking when they came up with this story? Even if you convince yourself to overlook the basic premise, the subsequent situations are implausible and forcibly stitched. The notion that Sivakarthikeyan with no formal training in boxing can defeat a professional boxer is far-fetched. The script takes a lot of liberties and takes logic for granted. A number of scenes and situations are heavily contrived and childish. Despite many of the scenes being out-of-place, the comedy quotient may entertain you in some places.
