Will the Bachchans steal Gowariker's thun

Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha Akbar is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. But before making its debut on Indian TV, the Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai starrer will be showcased at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in France starting on May 16.

The film, along with several other UTV titles like the upcoming film Goal, and past films like Swades, Parineeta, Don, Rang De Basanti and others, will be showcased between May 20-22, to help boost international sales and interest in the film.

Sources reveal that apart from Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh, Jaya and even Abhishek Bachchan are planning to attend the festival. This will be the first official public appearance that Ash and Abhishek will together as husband and wife.

Hands tied

An actor close to the Bachchans reveals, "The entire Bachchan parivar is making a trip to Cannes to support Aishwarya. But it really looks like it's an attempt to steal the thunder from the film, especially Hrithik Roshan."

Apparently, the Bachchans' plan to make a trip to Cannes hasn't gone well with Gowariker. "He is definitely not thrilled with the idea of Abhishek coming along with Ash, as it will take the focus off his film.

However, there isn't anything he can do about it. He'll just have to stand by and watch as the Bachchans create a spectacle and relegate his film to the background," adds the source.

As for Ash, she is thrilled about having her new family by her side at the international event. "Jodha Akbar is a huge film for her, so it won't be surprising if she gets her in-laws and hubby to the film's showcase event.

Considering that Hrithik will also be present, Ash will definitely want Abhishek by her side."

Both Ashutosh Gowariker and Amitabh Bachchan remained unavailable for comment.
