I don't know what got me but I wanted to assure her that I was there for her. I took the initiative and kissed her forehead and doing the same with her cheeks. I was moving on to her lips when my mobile rang. "Sorry" I quickly muttered an apology and moved back awkwardly. "Hello?"
I was greeted with adeel's loud and chirpy voice. "Yo dudiie!!" I rolled my eyes then I realized he can't see me through the phone. "Shut up adi, what do you want?" I asked irritably, I mean could this person be more annoying then interrupting my precious moment? Wait, precious moment, what the hell am I saying? "Well, I have been meaning to say that the puppy fluffy or stuffy u kept at my house is really bothersome. I'd rather keep a snake then this fluffy thing and that says a lot." Fluffy couldn't be that annoying, could he? And it defiantly says a lot if adi is willing to keep a snake rather than fluffy since he is afraid of snake. When we were young, adi was bitten by a snake once he sneaked into the forest while we were playing hide and snake. Fortunately or unfortunately the doctors took the poison out but he had to be hospitalized for a week. I can't believe it had been so long since I've known adi, we practically grew up together.
"Come on, you got some company, utilize it. You know I can't bring him back home, keep him for a while, huh?" I asked almost pleadingly, Almost. "Why did you bought that poor puppy in the first place when you are not even taking care of it?" he asked angrily.
"I can't! Zoya was so afraid of the puppy, I can't risk letting her run away again, no matter what the reason is." I tried reasoning him to make him cool down. "Which Zoya, I mean who Zoya?" I can trace the curiosity in his voice. What did he mean by which Zoya? "You probably don't know her. Speaking of which, can help me investigate if that man has any relationship with Zoya? She was crying her eyes out when she saw him."
"Umm... Asad... I-I think it would be better if we ta-talk about it when you get back. It's not a matter to be discussed on the phone and no further questions please. I promise I will update you with everything once you get back." it was as if his voice was pleading not to be asked anything and he was on the verge of crying. Now that's was made me more inquisitive, what kind of relationship did they have to freak both Zoya and Adeel out. "Okay. And about fluffy maybe you can take him to the animal center and return him." I was still curious but I know I can't push Adeel to the edge.
"Okay and Asad? Please take care of Zoya; she has been through a lot. Goodnight." He hanged up before I could ask him anything else. I didn't have a single clue to what was going on. I mean how did Adeel know Zoya had been through a lot? Was it one of another coincidence? I can't help but think that she is related to everyone around me. I wanted to return back the next day hurriedly so I can figure everything out but I know we'll have to check the business location or Zoya will start questioning.
When I returned to Zoya, I saw her sleeping. I only noticed her expression of pain when I was coating her with a blanket. Was she having a nightmare? "Please take care of Zoya; she has been through a lot." Adeel's words once again rang in my head. Without notice, I start stroking her hair and seized her hand in my other one. She calmed under my touch and slowly fell back in a peaceful slumber.
