Zoya's departure time was the period where Asad's confusion about his feelings came out best man, that's why I love it haha. Glad you liked it (:

Hello guys! I'm OVERWHELMED with the response, I can't even express it! And some silent readers actually broke their silence, so it wasn't all in vain! But Mrinalini gosh, I can't believe you bothered to make it reach 33 pages! I realized 10 pages down that it was quite a ridiculous demand on my part, so I wasn't even planning on waiting till 33 to begin with haha. But thank you, I had a good time looking through all the GIFs haha (:

This part is for you Mrina!!

Something Anything: Part 2

"So... did you want to say something?" Zoya asked Asad halfway through their excruciatingly quiet cab ride. Even the cab driver straightened up in his seat after Zoya broke the silence, the tension in the air evident even to him.

"No," Asad snapped. Zoya rolled her eyes yet again and turned to look out of the window again taking in the sights and sounds of Bhopal for what felt like the last time. She'd scooted over to the other side of the backseat from the centre a few minutes after Asad sat down, and she'd gotten over her initial shock.

The driver listened intently, and clicked his tongue softly in disappointment at Asad's response. He didn't even know these two people, but this short encounter was all he needed to understand that there was definitely something going on between them. Distracted by his thoughts, he didn't even realise that the cars in front of him had stopped, and how near he'd come to the car in front of him. He quickly slammed the brakes.

"Zoya!" Asad yelled, as the cab came to an abrupt halt and Zoya slid off the seat before he could do anything, her head bumping unceremoniously into the seat in front. Asad quickly flew over to Zoya's side, grabbing her shoulders as he helped her sit up while she groaned.

"Ab piche kyun dekh rahe ho?! Look in front and drive carefully! Bewakoof kahi ka," Asad bit out at the poor driver, who had turned around to apologize. He nodded and turned back quickly, gripping the wheel in fear. Asad began rubbing the ball of his palm on Zoya's temple, in an attempt to soothe the area before a bruise formed. Zoya opened her eyes uncertainly and stared at Asad from the corner of her eye.

"Uh, aap... are you okay?" Asad asked cautiously, quickly moving away from her, sliding back to his end of the seat. Zoya nodded slowly, before allowing a small, knowing smile to grow on her face as she leaned back into the seat.

"Aapko theek se baithna nahi aata kya? Goodness knows why you called a cab in the first place. Main margaya tha kya?" Asad snapped at her after a short while of burning under her gaze. He could practically feel the smugness exuding from her. He shut his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation. He probably shouldn't have reacted that way.

"Chup rahiye Mr Khan, don't say stuff like that. I wasn't looking front. I was gazing out of my window, so that's why I was caught unaware. Waise bhi, I didn't call for the cab, it was you who suddenly announced that there was a cab waiting for me outside," Zoya replied, shushing him for talking about his death.

"You didn't call for the cab to pick you up? Then why did I get a phone call from the cab company saying that the cab you asked for is on its way?" Asad asked, confused. Zoya frowned, staring at him like he was nuts.

"Right, so YOU got a phone call and YOU told me about the cab waiting outside, yet I am the one who called it? What rubbish. This is a completely pointless argument and I'm in no mood to continue it. Do you have anything else to say, or can I go back to ignoring you?" Zoya commented casually, earning a gape from Asad. Boy, this girl sure was getting bolder by the second. He shook his head quickly and she shrugged in response, turning her attention back to the window just to notice that the cab was pulling into the airport drop off point.

"Thank you Mr Khan, I'll take it from here. You probably should just take this cab home now, who knows whether you'll find another one," Zoya suggested, as she took over the wheeling of her luggage after Asad had taken it out of the boot. Not all that surprisingly, Asad ignored her completely as he dug into his pocket and gave the driver a few notes, dismissing him. She rolled her eyes and began walking towards the entrance, well aware that Asad was following behind her.

"Alright, now I'm just going to go now. Thank you for accompanying me all the way here, although I didn't really see the point. Thank you anyway. Do you want to say something before I go in?" Zoya asked a little impatiently this time, tapping her fingers on the handle of her luggage. To her surprise, Asad didn't just shake his head this time. He actually fell into deep thought. She straightened her posture. This was it.

"Um, do you have to go... so early? Mera matlab hai, your flight is still another 3 hours away, why'd you decide to come here so early?" Asad asked uncomfortably, shifting his feet around as he kept his eyes fixed on the ground below. He cringed a little as he heard Zoya chuckle softly.

"Just wanted to be safe, Mr Khan. Besides, I like airports. Anything else...?" Zoya replied politely, before probing one last time. Asad shook his head slowly and dejectedly, and Zoya felt her heart sink. She gripped her luggage handle tightly. He really wasn't going to say it.

"Goodbye Mr Khan, it was nice knowing you," Zoya said with finality. Asad nodded, the lump in his throat stopping him from saying anything. They stared at each other in silence for what seemed like a long while, before Zoya finally let go of the luggage handle and took a step forward, throwing caution to the wind. She threw her arms around his neck enveloping him in a warm hug.

"Allah hafiz," Zoya whispered into his neck in a broken voice, breathing in deeply as she took in his scent... for the last time. She felt a small glimmer of hope as Asad's arms came around her back, returning her hug.

"Allah hafiz Zoya," Asad murmured huskily into her soft hair, ridiculously glad that Zoya had taken the initiative. He felt her freeze up in his arms a few seconds later, making him loosen his grip on her purely out of surprise.

Zoya pushed herself off of Asad as soon as she found the opportunity, looking away immediately as she tried to hide the tears that were beginning to brim in her lower eyelid from Asad. So much for hoping, he just wished her goodbye right back instead. She grabbed her luggage and wheeled away, quickly showing the officer there her ticket before walking in, and using all of the willpower she had in her to not look back.

Asad watched her retreating back, his hands balling into fists on either side of him. He lifted one fist to his mouth, resting it on his lips as he tried to take control of the tsunami of emotions invading his being. She really was leaving. Zoya Farooqui was leaving his house, his life, and him, for good.

Zoya sat down on one of the seats outside her boarding gate, dumping her backpack on the empty seat next to her. She'd already checked in her luggage, and now there wasn't much to do until the gate opened. She buried her face in her hands, her elbows resting on her knees, as she groaned audibly. All she could think of was Asad, his face, his voice, his message for her on the laptop. He said he didn't want her to go, then why couldn't he say again, to her face? She wouldn't have left then. It was all she wanted to hear.

XXX

Uh oh, Asad let her go.

Okay my earlier demand for 33 pages was beyond ridiculous and I apologize haha. But likes seems like an easier thing to demand for haha it isn't so time-consuming either for anyone!!

Actually I just wanted to get silent readers to break their silence, and I succeeded to a certain extent! So I shall try it again haha. (Also, waiting for it to complete gives me time to do my own work haha if not I keep thinking about continuing the story :p)

Give me 143 likes and comments till page 53, and I promise I'll start writing the next part hahaha.
