My most favorite actress is Kajol, someone who has clearly not taken a risk in her career, is not exactly hard working, has terrible fashion sense on screen (her earlier film clothes literally make my eyes bleed and she had a unibrow), is average looking, has verbal diarrhea and comes from 4 generations of actresses. Her career was handed to her on a plate..But I absolutely adore her because she won me over with only her performances and not in these films with great parts, but normal desi masala romantic movies like KKHH. Just look at the gazebo scene where she jgoes through the emotions with just her eyes. That is the level of talent that will make me a fan for life of a person handed a career on a plate. I can name film after film after film of hers with these performances.
Sonam made her debut with Ranbir who comes from a film family with a bigger legacy and look at him now. Deepika has no film family and struggled for a while, but the amount of work she has put in to improve is absolutely impressive. Starkids like Sonakshi and Alia who debuted later have taken risks and shut people up with Looteera and Highway. If the best film of Sonam acting wise is a Ranjhaanaa then she is here because she is extremely pretty, is a fashionista and is a star kid with connections. Anil Kapoor has produced films for her which is more than many starkids. She is not as lazy as Imran or Abhi, that is her saving grace. But she is in the industry very much because of Daddy and fashion not exactly acting talent. She is definitely a better actress than Kat, but when Kat faced casting couches, learned a new language and worked so hard just to get in and stay in the industry unlike Sonam, I really can excuse her wooden performances more.
