Tamil Industry - Whose era is it?

Okay this is something I've been thinking about for a while now and thought I might as well post it here.

As far as Tamil Film Industry goes (well, at least as far as I can remember) I feel each era was ruled by two actors. Yes, we did have many successful actors in each generation. However, if we were to look at who was at top, then the pattern of two actors is something that has stayed the same for the past 50 years now.

Back in the days, we had MGR and Sivaji ruling the roost.

Then came Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan.

So when I was wondering who was ruling currently, Veeram and Jilla were scheduled to release on the same day. And I felt so excited to know that both Thala and Thapalathy will be clashing on the same day.

With that, I came to the conclusion that this was indeed the Ajith-Vijay era 😳

These are just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

P.S. I know Rajinikanth and Kamal are still in movies. But they are well ahead of the current flout of actors, so I didn't want to bring them into comparison for the current era.

Rajnikanth and Kamal should definitely retire first things first and if not retire they need to do roles of their age..🤢

for now I'd say it's nobody's era.. One thing I like about Kollywood is that it's so welcoming to anything new.. be it actors, stories, small budgets.. so many small budget movies do great business and are actually good movies too.. You definitely have Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Suriya etc in the top league but there are many upcoming younger actors who are making their name in the industry..

^ Yeah that's very true. So many new directors are trying out different genres, and you see upcoming actors who are willing to try those movies out. They don't necessarily want to get restricted to a particular type of genre.
