I have recently started watching the show and want to ask someone to give me a short synopsis of the past? I want to know why Adi tricked Shikha and why did they steal the kid?

Hi! Welcome aboard :)
They haven't revealed the reason on the show.
My guess is that Madhu can't conceive so they decided to get Manav that way. Adoption or surrogacy would cause problems in the future as the documents would be difficult to manipulate.
