THE JOURNEY FROM KASAM SE TO ADBHOOT SE
One day will surfing various television channels my fingers stopped at Zee. Yes, it was 9 pm and Kasam Se was on air. It was supposedly the 2nd or 3rd week that show had been on air and I found the show quite interesting. "The trials and tribulations of three sisters." A little aberration from the common saas bahu serials. I never real knew Zee esisted until Kasam Se became a habit.
The sweet and docile elder sister, Bani, clutching her sibling hands firmly and making way to the big bad metropolitan city. Mumbai, the unofficial industrial capital of India, there slow and steady momentum meeting pace with the city life. It was a wonderful track. For me star plus got shadowed. The story had a captivating track. And above all the introduction of the business tycoon Jai Walia. His presence in the small screen heated up the entire atmosphere beyond the capacity of amelioration. Ram Kapoor became the current heartthrob of Indian silver screen. His deep husky masculine voice was enchanting enough to keep you glued to the screen. His persona, his black ensemble, his scarf everything added sophistication and flavor. Characters like Jigyasa and Ranveer added masala to the soap. It was a perfect combination of elegance, story, cast, script….everything in perfect place.
Jai getting infatuated to the middle sister pia, and his proposing marriage when pia was in love with Pushkar added generous twists. Then pias elopement with Banis marriage to Jai leading to the golden era of Kasam Se got the TRPs soaring high, restoring Bani and Jai as "ghar ghar ka kirdar." The ruthless and heartbroken Walia tormenting Bani, with Banis firm stand on getting pia married of her love, the Walia hindering her steps, it was so perfect and envisaging. Zee was nearly the top channel.
The budding scenes of friendship camouflaged with hatred still in their heart made us glued to the 9 pm soap. Bani realizing her love for her husband and Jai steadily becoming polite to Bani. A wonderful mixture of emotions. Jais softening and Banis "ankhon ki baatein"….. steadily Jai realizing the place of Bani in his life. The Roshnis arrival. And blast!!!!! Jealousy envy….a wholesome ingredient of a hindi film. Wonderfully enacted.
With Anus marriage round the corner(which actually brought Jai and Bani closer) Jai and Bani solefully met and within the silent sobs of jealousy Jai made Banis his own giving us the historical 19th June.
But the golden era gave way to a disastrous track " PR Raaz" utterly rubbish and no basic track. Still the actors made us glued to your seats. Bani's ammagiri surfacing and consequently Jai turning into Buddha. We should have understood then that munna nad munni wouldn't be restored to where they were a normal husband and wife and not a degreeless holmes and scotch owner Buddha. The divorce fiasco alimony, the entry of OCD looney. The grip was loosening. Still the creatives didn't understand. But they hadn't lost their brains completely. They gave us the brilliantly scripted scene where Jai talks to his still to be born baby. Bani lost her baby in the process of saving her husband. We still didn't lose hope. Must say we were optimistic.
Then Dubai with pia showing her true colours and forcing herself on Jai…..and all problems getting resolved between the husband and wife.
We saw a guilty Jai and a over jubilant and cheeky Bani. Pias "nautanki" driving Jai to the edge of insanity. Bani suspecting Jai then punishing herself of suspection such a wonderful husband. Arr I so hated those days.
pia putting up an act and eventually making the truth of the parentage of the child known to everybody soared the TRPs high and her moods to a permanent hibernation. Bani drifted to a temporary coma stage and Jai putting up an act of rudra avatar showing his desire to marry pia. His intention being to cure Bani. Things worked. But now it was OCD looneys turn. Skunky instiagating Bani against Jai. Sahil died in an accident when things had just turned to normal. The burkha man which later turned out to be Jigyasa Karuna and pia in their mission to prove Bani mad. They succeded. They blackmailed Jai. Sent Bani to the asylum, forcing Jai to marry pia. But they weren't successful this time. Jai didn't marry pia restoring our hope of no cross marriages.
The adbhoot guy came into prominence whose dialogues does throws people off guard. Serious, over dramatic, and funny a concotation of all these. Adbhoot sores high rescuing Bani from the asylum tehn taking her to UK and giving her a new name Durga. Instigating Bani against Jai, making him seem like her enemy who took her children from her and married her sister( she IS ignorant of the truth). The comeback to India after 5years
The best thing was we got see was the more of the RD mode and Atharv and Krishna.
But thus turned the glorious Kasam Se to adbhoot se…………..
