I just love the background music ! So beautiful. It tells the story and the emotions of the leads. Always fitting to the scenes, and so traditional at times.

When Laajo is happy ---the music says it. When she is sad -- the music is so soulful, that I would replay it again and again to hear it.

In yesterdays episode , the music was telling ,when, Nikhil was alone in his room. It portrayed his emotions so aptly. It told us that this young, confused man is heading for deep, dark depression.

Listen to the music -- and then tell me that he is not affected by the situation. Today poor Nikhil has been scolded so much by his fans, but I still think he is putting up a front of being at peace with his decision.

Along with the excellent actors of the show , the music plays a grand part in conveying the emotions of the characters.

I too think that the background music is very well chosen, It would be nice to find out more about the music , ie the name, artists etc..
I know the name of one of the background music that they play quite often, it is Nino Rota's theme to Franco Zeffirelli's film Romeo and Juliet (1968),

Background music is beautiful, some of it has traditional influence as u said. I think some is inspired by rabinder sangeet and Bengali folk music but that happy laajo music is inspired from that song from film roja--dil hai chota sa choti si aasha...it kind of suits the inspirations of the young girl.. me too would like to find more about artists as song gustakh dil and man bawra are so wonderfully done.
sayiyaan song to we all know who sang..
sorry I don't know both your names so responding to both of u in this post...
I also loved sitar recitals when Laajo left Nikhil's house-reminded me of Madan Mohan's soulful songs.

GD have used the score for sure. I remember this theme being played on our British, Radio 2 station. There was a disc Jockey called Simon Bates who used to read listeners letters in a section called 'our tune', The stories were usually soft romantic, or of past relationships or even partners who had passed away, etc, etc...

Thanks for the info Sam. You can call me Bash.

And thanks for the link London (if I can call you so) The Romeo and Juliet song is 'A time for us' . one of the most romantic song written. I do love it.

What I love most is the sitar music that Sam is talking about. Wish I could down load it.
