The festival of colours is back again!

The festival of Holi kick starts with the lighting of a bonfire on the night (day after the full moon) before people celebrate Dhuleti by applying colours on each other and playing with water making it a fun-filled and boisterous festival. In a nutshell it's an occasion that brings in unadulterated joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance and of course lots of bright colors!

In a chat with Tellychakkar.com, some of our television actors talk of their plans of celebrating Holi in an eco-friendly manner.

Harshad Arora: I doubt whether I will be celebrating Holi as I am shooting today. However if I celebrate, I would be using organic colors so that my skin is not harmed. I prefer playing dry Holi. I am well aware that since there is scarcity of water in our country, we should take care and conserve water as much as possible

Vrinda Dawda: It has been ages since I have played Holi. But this time I am all geared up to celebrate this occasion. I am going to a friend's Holi party at Andheri where I will enjoy the rain dance and play with organic colours.

Kinshuk Mahajan: Well, today I am celebrating Holi with my family and friends; my wife loves the festival a lot. I believe in celebrating Holi without colours and if at all I get into playing Holi I only play with water and I see to it that we use organic colours

Shilpa Anand: I have yet not decided about my plans but am surely going to have a safe Holi with my close ones in an eco-friendly manner. I would like to advise other people too to play Holi only with people they know.

Shivin Narang: Since my parents and friends have come to visit me, I am celebrating the festival of colours with them and am also relishing eating tasty bhujiyas. Though my friends are very naughty, I am sure we will play a eco-friendly Holi. But yes, I will see that there is no wastage of water.

Ankita Sharma: I believe in playing Holi in such a way that there is no wastage of water and nor there is a reaction of colours. Back in Delhi, I along with my friends used to play Holi with flowers and chandan. Now I do not play Holi as I have had a bitter experience when I had a reaction on my skin when somebody put colour on me. I would rather celebrate the festival in a simple way by eating bhujiyas and namak para.

Shaleen Malhotra: I am celebrating Holi with my friends and since all of them are actors, we are very particular on what is being applied on our face and body. We are all celebrating the festival in an eco-friendly manner. However, I do not believe in the concept of not playing Holi without water due to its scarcity. I'd rather save water every day to celebrate Holi playing with colours and water.

Giaa Maanek: This year I am not be celebrating Holi. Every year after I play Holi, I come back home and spend two to three hours bathing. I would rather have a quiet Holi and enjoy the festivity. It is a good concept of using organic colours but then not many people follow it. Also when it comes to saving water, aren't you having bath for long hours and getting rid of the colours? By this act, don't we eventually end up wasting water?

Mohammad Nazim: I do not like playing with colours as they can react to my skin. As of now I have not planned anything. However, I am sure of spending some quality time with my friends. For the people who play Holi, I believe they should use organic colors and play it in an eco-friendly environment

Shrenu Parikh: Well, I would not be able to play Holi as I am shooting today. But I would like to request people to have a safe Holi. We have been brought up in a society where we have not encouraged saving water but there are a lot of reactions when dry powder is mixed with water or other chemicals.
