Famous as Pushkar of 'Kasamh Se', Naman Shaw will now be seen in the
Star Plus' brand new serial 'Kasturi' where he is being paired
opposite the lead protagonist Shubhangi Atre.
Finally you have got a lead role. Are you happy?
It is not a lead but yes I will be playing opposite Shubhangi. Today
was the first day that I shot for the serial and it is great.
How did 'Kasturi' happen to you?
I was doing 'Kasamh Se' but now my track will be out for a few
months after the break. Presently my main track is in 'Kyunki..' as
Nakul. So Ekta told me to play the role here in 'Kasturi'.
What will be your role like?
I will play a sweet loving guy by the name of Girish. I get engaged
and then there are twists in the tail for which you will have to
watch the serial.
Now how will you manage three serials, especially when you are
playing the lead in one?
See time management is not my headache. Most in Balaji work for more
than one serial and Balaji manages the time for them. I do not have
to do anything. I always get a roll-over time and come back to the
sets and after ten hours I leave.
Can you relate any of your characters to Naman?
I think Pushkar (Kasamh Se) in the beginning was like Naman. Next is
Nakul who is not at all like Naman(Kyunki..). And again Girish is
like Naman in the beginning.
Are you happy with the kind of roles you have been offered?
Yes I'm happy with the sweet loving simple character that I am being
offered because I personally do not like to do those screaming and
shouting. Plus I'm being offered three major serials in Balaji which
are doing well. What else can one ask for?
How has been your journey in Balaji till date?
It has been a lovely journey in Balaji. As a newcomer I had been
treated very well and made to feel extremely comfortable.
With whom you are close to?
In Balaji we are like one family and it is a separate world out
here. I'm close to Joydeep, Prachi, Sahil, Ali Merchant and Neel.
Will you be missing 'Kasamh Se'?
Yes it is my first television venture and I will certainly be
missing it a lot. But don't worry as I will also be back soon.
You're slowly becoming the eye-candy of Balaji or rather Ekta? What
do you feel about it?
Who does not want to become the eye-candy of Ekta Kapoor. I am happy
that now I'm becoming a Balaji boy.
How did you get into acting? Was it planned?
I had always wanted to become an actor. I was a model and had even
participated in Grasim Mr.India 2003 where I won the 'Best Smile'
award. I was also one of the top ten finalists in 'Zee Cinestar Ki
Khoj'. After the show got over, I started giving auditions and
looking out for a career in acting. 'Kasamh Se' was my first serial.
I have never done any theatre.
Are you interested in films too?
Yes I'm and who is not interested in films. But as of now I have
only received offers from B or C grade films which I'm not
interested in doing. If I receive any good offers, I will certainly
do it.
Where do you see yourself from a few years hence?
I actually do not know. Even I keep asking myself the same question
all the time as to where I will be few years hence.Chic
