Some emotions are hard to describe for one doesn't know how or where to start it and if started how or where to finish it...
After watching Ashvik as Arvi for 2 years and a couple of months, today, I find myself standing in the crossroads of indescribable emotions. I have so much to pour out, but I am well aware that no amount of words are enough to pen down the extravagance of overwhelming, over riding emotions I have ever felt for an on screen and eventually a real life couple like Arvi and Ashvik...
PR is the first serial I have watched and Arvi are the first couple I have literally fallen into ne crashed into love with... I have always been nonchalant about the daily soaps. However, that didn't remain the same forever. One day, while flipping through the channels, I came across their laptop scene and that was enough to hook me to this magic called Arvi. For the first time in my 21 years (2 years back) did I find myself actually looking forward to watching a daily soap.
The magic called Arvi continued since that fateful day. Through their fights, their altercations and their petty squabbles, Arjun and Purvi were the match made for each other. Arjun Kirloskar who was used to having things at the snap of his fingers found the most unlikely match in a middle class girl Purvi"and it was indeed a match made in heaven.
If anyone asks me, "Which is your favorite Arvi scene ?", I will not be able to pin point one because each Arvi scene is beautiful has a significance of its own. But if someone asks me, "Which according you is the most epic Arvi scene?", then I would without any hesitation say"It has got to be the Shiv Mandir scene. This was the first time these two realized there is something more than their mutual dislike for each other- something that both of them hitherto did not know exist for each other . Although both of them were not able to name it at the time, I, as a viewer knew it was a harbinger of one of the most beautiful love stories I was about to witness. The background, the setting, the day and how could I forget... the CUTEST snake ever ( I always found snakes scary and creepy before that day) created a perfect ambience for the inception of a PHENOMENON called ARVI...
As the stories unfolded their fights got crazier resulting in Purvi leaving the office. But it also made Arjun realize Purvi's importance in this office as well as in his life. The patch up and the tolerance that followed paved a way for understanding and a beautiful friendship between them. It also gave us an opportunity to see the previously unseen ( or that emerged on an off) side of Arjun -- especially the side that Arjun had kept concealed from the World... or that tender/soft side always existed but came into fore with Purvi being around..
The Holi scene, Arjun's first heart felt laughter, them being drenched with water and color of Holi, Purvi inviting him to her home for cleaning up , the stolen glances, Arjun's longing for Purvi visible through his eyes --- Arjun depicted thousand emotions in that 5 minutes scenes.
Purvi Vinay engagement fiasco brought them closer. Their friendship strengthened and Arjun became Purvi's staunchest support system. The Pune conference, Arjun's gifting blue saree to Purvi and the dance that followed made " Dil Kyoun yeh mera shor Kare" the Arvi anthem as well as Arvian and Ashvikian anthem. It also inspired the first ever Arvi/Ashvik AT..
Pune conference was a landmark also in the sense that the vamp conspired against Arjun and Purvi but it actually worked in their favor ultimately. Arjun's innocent peck on Purvi's forehead in an attempt to console her during the MMS scandal, Purvi's angry outburst followed by her leaving the office and each of them trying to analyze and revisit their feelings for each other was depicted marvelously. We got to see Arjun, the hard core, workaholic, practical businessman cry like a child and seek his deceased mother's assistance in assessing the depth and truth of his feelings for Purvi is my favorite scene of Arjun. "She is just yet another employee, but tell me MOM why does it pain me to see her in tears?"... AK's genuine question to his mom's spirit ( or the deep recesses of his own introspection... I would never know) and the tear drops that dropped from his eyes after the ULTIMATE realization.. Arjun was as vulnerable, as human and as weak as any mortal...
Arjun's confession that followed the realization was yet another landmark in the history of television. Purvi's initial rejection or rather her unwillingness to acknowledge those feelings, Arjun trying to make her see the truth, the overnight wait and the weary resignation the morning after and his decision to leave for Canada after giving his lady love 24 hours of ultimatum... Arjun Kirloskar was a PHENOMENON...
The temple scene that followed... " Mein Bhagwan thode na hoon, jo mein chahoon who ho jaaye", him thanking Purvi profusely for making him a good human being and his gratitude towards India for giving him the best gift of his life"Purvi. Arjun Kirloskar made me cry that day. Arjun eyes spoke more than his words. From happiness to regret to sadness to desperation to pleading to gratitude to longing --- Arjun's eyes did most of the talking in that scene..
What followed was Purvi's airport confession. Her regret of not being able to stop him on time, the tears that followed and her relief on seeing him in front of her"something that she had not imagined in her wildest dreams, her sweet, shy, yet heartfelt confession - a class apart. No candle lit dinner, no picture perfect backdrop, no honey coated words but a confession of utmost simplicity and hence so genuine and beautiful-- something sprinkled with stardust. Hadn't Da Vinci for that matter said, "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" ???
Throughout both the confessions it rained in torrents and the rain has remained associated with Arvi for ever.
" If winter has come, can spring be far behind"??? said Bard. In Arvi's case it was just the opposite. The course of true love, it is said, does never run smooth"for Arvi their journey of love it was like a rollercoaster ride. The brief Springs of their lives were always followed by longest and never ending Winters. No sooner had they confessed their feelings for each other, the Universe conspired to tear them asunder. It came as different forces -- as Arjun's childhood friend, he had promised of betrothal, as Purvi's foster mother disapproving of the alliance and then Purvi's gratitude for her foster mother taking precedence over her love for Arjun. But Arjun's love did stand tall among all the adversities. They separated, they reunited, they separated again and then reunited against all the hopes but then the happiness was evanescent"short lived. But throughout the entire ups and downs one thing never changed -their love for each other as well as OUR love for Arvi/Ashvik. In fact it only got stronger with time and among all the distortions.
What started as a beautiful love story of two soul mates was butchered mercilessly by the CVs as Arvi's story deteriorated. At one time the hopes of their reunion almost dashed to ground. But the Arvians/Ashvikians never gave up"we persisted with vengeance, remained resilient and we got Arvi back albeit for a brief period. Kudos to all the Arvians and Ashvikians for making it possible. Thanks for remaining firm in your beliefs and making the impossible happen. How could we believe and bring ourselves to resign to the thoughts that Arvi were not made for each other???
But then the impossible had happened against the Soap Queen's will and was totally different from the normal course she had planned. So what followed??? An unprecedented vindictiveness in terms of shabbiest storyline and treatment to Arvi.. Even then Arvi remained indelible in the souls and minds of Arvians/Ashvikians.
After reading the WU of 20th March, I am sure that Arvi have still not been totally phased out of the show. But one thing is for sure that Ashvik have quit, something we Arvians/Ashvikians have wanted for a long time. But now they have really left, the feelings are bitter sweet. Rithvik and Asha have made Arvi so endearing to all of us. I am damn sure no other actors would cast the same spell as Ashvik and frankly I care a DAMN now. No Ashvik, no PR. Thank you Rithvik and Asha for being the fantabulous Arjun and Purvi. Had it not been for your portrayal of Arjun and Purvi, we would have given up on Arvi a long time back. Thanks for keeping the Arvi hope alive and illuminating ( if not as bright) throughout those deadly dark hours. Thanks for making us believe that true love does ultimately win. Thanks for making Arvians/Ashvikians survive and come out of those darkest hours sound and alive if not unscathed.
Thank you Arvi/Ashvik : for being a common string binding people from around the World into one huge Arvi/Ashvik family. Thank you Arvi/Ashvik : for being a catalyst for virtual yet beautiful friendship among people from cross-continents.
You are such wonderful pure souls and you deserve nothing but the BEST. I'm sure we shall get to see you in lots of good projects in future ( though I do not know if we shall again get to see you two on the same frame and the awesome magic you guys weave but nevertheless). We shall miss you but we shall still be happy that you can now move to greener pastures that would do justice to your acting calibers and look forward to seeing you in newer projects. Thank you in advance for letting us be a part of your wonderful journey.
