| Lahore, Apr 19 2007 - Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has been appointed as the new captain of Pakistan Cricket team.He will be the captain of both the Test team and the One-Day team. "He has been chosen unanimously as he is the best man to lead the team and he will be the captain of the both Test and One-day team untill at least at the end of2007," Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Nasim Ashraf said at a news conference in lahore on Thursday. The 25-year-old batsman of Pakistan takes over the captaincy from Inzmam-ul-haq. Her is the the fourth youngest captain in Pakistan's cricket history after Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis and Javed Burki who all led the national team before they were 25. The Pakistan Cricket Board ignored some senior players like Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Shahid Afridi while appointing Malik for both the Test and one-day team until the end of 2007, a period during which the team will play two important Test series against South Africa and India. |
