Hi Peeps😳 im here with a OS on who else, but one n only Manveer😛 its been a long time since i wrote one...so this time its a fairy tale with a 'Happily ever after' tacked at the end..lol

please read and comment...

(warning: the OS is very pathetic..🤢 read at your own risk😆)

Long ago in a faraway land there lived a queen whose face was as radiant as a moon but her thoughts were as dark as coal. On an auspicious day, a son was born to her and she named him Udayveer, the brave one. On the day of baby's naming ceremony, a huge party was held in the kingdom. The prince was a handsome baby and everyone wanted to have a look at him. A group of monks came that way begging for alms. The evil queen ordered her soldiers to drive them out of her palace.

"Oh queen..we only came to bless the baby..But now we shall curse that you will pay for your misdeed..Your son shall marry a rock!" the leader of the monks uttered.

The Queen was frightened but did not believe the monks and had them evicted out of her kingdom. Five years passed and the prince grew healthy and robust. One day, he found a multi colored piece of rock that he brought home with himself. Day by day Udayveer grew fond of his new toy and refused to part with it even for a moment. The queen remembered the monk's prophecy and made a plan to get rid of the rock. One night while the prince slept peacefully in his room, her soldiers threw the rock in a river that ran on the periphery of their kingdom. Little prince's face darkened with the loss of his toy and huge rain drops dropped out of his eyes

On the other bank of the river, a sculptor lived with his family. He found the rock and carved a tiny figurine of a girl with it. He displayed it for sale in his shop. One month passed and the doll remained unsold. The sculptor grew frustrated with the doll and threw it back in the river where he had found the rock.

Years passed and now the prince was twenty five years old. His mother wanted him to get married soon and bless the kingdom with an heir. But he was averse to the idea of marriage. One day the prince had a dream that a girl was drowning in the nearby river and she was calling out his name. For a whole week the same dream kept recurring and the royal priest was consulted to explain the meaning of the dream.

"dear prince, the answers of your dreams lie on the river bank and you must go there on a moon lit night. You will find a statuette of a girl and you should bring it home with you..it is ordained by fate that the statue shall serve as your wife" the priest said. The queen was beside herself with rage but the prince accepted his destiny.

On the day of full moon, prince Udayveer brought the girl's figurine home and next day their wedding was conducted with due rituals. he placed his wife' near the window in his room, where ample moon light fell and fragrance of flowers from the garden lingered. The statue was not any ordinary statue but that of a princess. In her previous birth, princess Manyata was cursed by a witch that she shall be reborn as a stone and her liberation will only be, when a prince falls in love with her.

The evil queen could not come to terms with what had happened and made attempts to disfigure the statue when the prince was not in his room. But her attempts went in vain as nothing could budge the doll from its place nor any weapon could cause a dent to it.

Unknown to the prince, due to the effect of serene moon light, his princess would become human every night and would turn back to stone before the sun rose.

One fine day, Udayveer had fought a hard battle with the king of a neighboring kingdom and he fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow made of swan feathers. Manyata became human at the stroke of 12 in the night and her husband's tiresome state made her sad. She pressed his feet and caressed his brow.

Every night she would turn human and look fondly at her dear husband. He was so handsome that she could not resist cuddling beside him and showering him with love. Udayveer woke up with a start and found no one. The statuette stood complacently in its place. He dismissed it as a dream and went back to sleep.

But when the same event occurred next day, the prince made a plan to unravel the mystery. At the dead of the night, as usual, Manyata converted to human and went to Udayveer's sleeping place. Tears rolled in her eyes watching his lovely countenance. She loved him very much, if only he loved her back. She kissed his closed eye lids and laid her head on his chest. In the wee hours of morning when she got up to go back, Udayveer caught her by hand.

"Who are you oh beautiful one? If you are indeed human, why do you disguise yourself as stone?" he asked her.

She narrated him the story of her previous birth and also about the curse. According to the witch, she would become fully human, once the day light of winter solstice fell on her in the presence of the prince who loved her.

The winter solstice was to happen the very next day and there was little time left. The prince's mother was informed about the stone princess's story and she placed many hurdles in the path of their chariot. With sheer determination the prince fought away every stumbling block and raced forward.

Somehow they reached the ground when there was only half an hour left for the day to end. Udayveer placed the little statuette into direct line of fading sun light and in an instant Manyata's stone body turned to flesh and blood. The light of solstice shone brightly on their faces and Udayveer took her in his arms with love. All night Manveer soaked in the shower of first love that had been elusive to them since so long.

They returned to their kingdom and lived happily ever after.

Thank you🤗

(Note: Winter solstice is a natural phenomenon that takes place once in many years..the next solstice is set to happen in 2016 in India. on such a day, the night is very long and day is too short)

Hi Vibha 😃. I'm late ... I know ... I'm sorry!! (I know you'd forgive me ... so I best move on with the comment😉) OS was absolutely BEAUTIFUL 😳!!! BTW - If you are writing it , then it CAN'T be "pathetic"😉! It was a very unique concept , but 1 which was utterly sweet😳. I don't know whom u pictured to be Uday's mother ... but as I was reading this OS , only Menka Bua's face was coming in my mind😆. Uday was cursed and so was Manyata ... so happy that they got a perfect, happy ending😃. U know what - (even at my age) , I still love fairy-tales. They always give u that Warm, contented feeling at the end! Great job Vibha👏. Loved it. Thanks for the PM😊. PS - I read your other OS also , and I posted my LIKE there ... but didn't comment. Awesome job, for THAT 1 as well👏!!!
