they might have never noticed it among the 100's of other students at hogwarts. And why would they check on ron at night?

R u telling me dey didn't sneak out at night?;-)

N it don't hv to B 'check on Ron'.. dey can easily notice right? If dey evn juz look at boys dormitory ther eyes R bound to fall on Ron's name..coz if u know a person u cn easily mke out his name evn in 100's

Maybe they thought Peter Pettigrew was a boy in Ron's year. But in all honesty, there are lots of Gryffindor boys in every year, so they probably didn't realize that he didn't belong to Hogwarts.
