The word itself carries the shades of two opposite worlds. A swan, known for its pristine white grace, its snow white feathers...and a black swan?? Of course there can't be one!! Swans are white, sinless pure beautiful creatures, any black in them is just not possible. But yes, black swans do exist. And yes, they are heartbreakingly beautiful too, just that the world is not used to their black beauty.
And neither is the world that used to dark love. A love that has shades of hatred, anger, disgust an d lust, yet bright hues of love, protectiveness, tenderness and attraction too.
Today saw the cvs give flight to a rare black swan cause that's the closest I could get to the love hate scene between Rudra and Paro. There was sheer aggression, pure hatred, unabashed disgust. You could feel the antagonism flow between the two so called love birds. He was doing everything he could to make her hate him. At his despicable best, every word, every gesture, every touch guaranteed to make her flinch. Never have come across a love scene, where the man is making love, yet trying to generate hate in return. He was loving her so she could hate him. Pure malice at work. And man... was he successful!! She hated his very sight, the sound of his words, the touch of his fingers, everything so disgusting. The fact that he was alive and breathing, was such a big offense to Paro's sensibilities. If eyes could kill, if words could stab, if feelings could murder, the Major would have been a ghost!! Her hatred flowed freely, and he absorbed it with glee. In some ways the whole scene was akin to sexual harassment ( I know strong words, and I had something even stronger in mind and I apologize for them, I will be killed 😆)...but...but...
It would have been intolerable if...underneath it all was not the strong undercurrent of a lethal attraction. An attraction that cannot be controlled and cannot be denied. A pull that is so wrong but felt so right!! They were under a spell, drawn to each other in spite of their hatred. Their aggression building the intensity, their anger fuelling their passion. Their mutual disgust adding to their attraction. The anger igniting their senses further. They were mere puppets at the hands of their hearts and minds. The mind ordered them to loath while their hearts (and bodies) commanded them to love. And the two were tossed mercilessly in the stormy ocean of passions. The compulsions were for all to see. The desperation guising itself and failing. He was lying not to her but to himself and she wanted to run not from him, but from herself. He was drawn to his destruction while she was attracted to her ruin. They hated each other but despised themselves more. All the negativity, just a sham cause underneath lay the desire to belong, to love, to be loved, to touch, to caress. The need was overflowing, the craving for love, seeping through the cracks of hatred.
The undercurrent so visible to a third person. To the common eyes, KCM, it was a love scene. To their mutual eyes it was a hate scene.
A fantabulous sequence 👏👏👏!! What portrayal, what performances and what expressions. Body language perfect to a T!! It was dark love at its best. The black love, the gray passion so powerfully and forcefully enacted. So difficult to express love and hate at the same instant. So unmanageable to make love with hate or to hate with love. Kudos team RR!! It will always remain one of the best scenes I have seen so far, cause it was neither pure love and nor pure hate, it was just passion that cannot be named. Dark and foreboding it was still love. It was a swan...a black as sin, dark as hell yet a beautiful, graceful, unacceptable swan!!
