Yet new research from Johns Hopkins University suggests that one's abilities at math might entirely be handed down by one's forefathers. Link :https://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-20092025-71/are-math-skills-genetic/
But what I want to concentrate on in this blog is not whether there is, in fact, a genetic component to math ability. The scientific bottom line is that we don't know. Rather, I want to concentrate on what we do know: namely, that if you believe that math abilities are fixed, you may be compromising your and your children's potential in math.

I am still scratching my head on the reason for bringing up the first article. I didn't refute the claim that acquired intelligence could be partially due to genetics. Studies haven't proved anything for gene involvement. So until genetic studies prove gene involvement, previous theories hold good. This study picks control groups to test their theory about math skills without going into actual genetical studies. I am reading the article that postulates genetic hand in math skills with its continuous reference to the word "perhaps" and a lot of other "maybes". So, I am not sure why you brought up this article.

Exactly, we don't know whether genes have a say in acquired intelligence. And at this point for a show to take a step forward and openly state math skills are genetically acquired is a tad bit preposterous.

I absolutely agree with this. Perhaps it can be said that their specific mention of prowess in mathematics being genetic might be slightly far-fetched. But intelligence, more specifically, the thickness of the grey matter itself is hereditary. Grey matter is the cerebral cortex which is the part of the brain that processes attention, memory, awareness, language, consciousness and cognition in general. Genetically acquired thickness increases the capacity for the aforementioned, but of course, a nurturing environment is required for intelligence to flourish. But nowhere though, is it proven that math specifically is genetic..

mathematic ability genetic or not i will say those teachers are stupid...ruhi not only weak in maths bot she is not able to write down what is on the board...are they dumb...she is troubled...she is not able to concentrate...she is absent most of days...and the teachers are not even asking what is going on at home...they are stating her mathematical ability is really poor like her mother...seriously...when a child is weak in every subject the first thing teachers ask parents how is she doing at home...what is that troubling the child...what dumb person is this raavan kumar...he is full of himself...his pain that is all he can think about...his wife left him for his boss...it been six years...still he residing in the darkness...his pain is all that matter...he forget his children...just because ruhi has a mole he been running away from the child...kid grew up with out her father and mother...he know ashok is a cheat and will go to any extend ro get ruhi's custody and to hurt him...and still he believes every crap he say...and he is lashing every single person around him...and what mrs bhalla support him...what is that he was snapping at his siblings are they not her kids...he is angry so he can snap at everyone...when others are angry they cant...when yesterday ishitha just said everyone should sit and talk she was ready to bit her head off...and he was like he was pulled in to that relation...he himself did say yes...that too for his benefit...but ishitha did it for ruhi...and he can't even appreciate her for that...appreciate to door ki baat hai...he is not giving a living space for her...jake hall mein so jao...i hope he will not say tum kichen mein so jao...sachi mein berookhi ke bbhi had hote hai like ishitha said...

Basically, genes play a role in shaping a person's disposition towards different behavioral traits or abilities, and nurture affects how those traits and abilities ultimately shape up. Thus, although someone's genetic framework might lean towards an increased chance of developing antisocial personality or various intellectual abilities/disabilities, it's the interactions of those predispositions with how that person is actually raised that decides how you turn out.

Raman is a case in point. We know he wasn't always like the angry/grumpy/easily irritated man he is now; he used to be a calm/sweet/shy "Happy." Shagun's betrayal, the change in environment, turned him into who he is today. It's pretty funny, because his genetic disposition towards this argumentative personality might certainly come from Toshi Ji's temperament. Similarly, both he and his father seem to keep things in, rather than discuss it openly (although, I suppose most desi men possess that quality, lol). But these traits only came out after the set of circumstances that followed Raman-Shagun's separation.

The problem with today's scene was the way the principal/teacher phrased it-- she made it sound like a child's math skills are entirely based on genetics, which is certainly not true. A better (or more realistic) principal would have focused on the effect of familial tensions/stress on children's academic performance. But of course, the "Ashok as Ruhi's father" track and Raman's growing misconception had to be enhanced somehow, and this was a lame way to do it.

P.S. This is how I know it's an Ekta serial--- something as simple as a DNA test completely eludes Raman's(CEO of the year) mind. Sigh.

If intelligence is inherited then i am sure Raman has gone on Mrs bhalla bcoz he is really dumb 😆 Solving maths doesnt really sort ur life, if u know Raman!

As for Ruhi i am very sure some good tutoring and boost in confidence will strengthen her maths. Genes might make someone a slow learner or a naturally sharp one...but its practice and guidance that does the trick in academics. And now Ruhi has the perfect guide n mentor with her 😳

and assume ruhi is weak in maths coz of her genes inherited from shagun but that really doesnt question he being her father...assume ashok is her father and inherited genes from him then she should be as bright as him...plus cunning also...but she is not...then where this angle of parenting come in this...cv's are stupid...this simply don't support their track...it only prove that shagun is the mother which is already a truth...phew...and if he assuming she didn't get his gene because she is not his daugher he is definitely a dumb person of course ruhi inherited his genes😊
if he pulled some other child with him...this is going to be really bad for him...he is going to repent for all his actions...why the child didnt cry???
