Ram Kapoor aka Jai Walia of Kasamh Se… returned to Mumbai after a blissful holiday in Goa, only to be drowned under tremendous work pressure. He, and the entire unit of the serial actually slogged over one shot continuously for 24 hours!
Recalls a unit member, "The scene was supposed to be the turning point of the show. The unit started shooting for the particular scene on Thursday afternoon at 2 pm. For some odd reason the actors just couldn't get the scene right. The retakes continued till 2 pm on Friday, without any break!"
After shooting non-stop for 24 hours, the actors and unit members were exhausted and irritated. Says Ram, "Being the lead character in a show, I had to be there throughout the shooting. We had to shoot non-stop without for 24 hours. It was a long sequence and for some reason we could not get it right."
Ram has been in the business for a while now, but did the newcomers complain? "At times like this it does get frustrating," he says, adding, "Naturally, there were arguments, tiffs and the ego clashes on the sets after a point. Everyone was dog tired, everyone wanted to pack up and go home. Others can, still, leave, but the lead actors have no option but to stick around till the end, when pack-up is announced. So Prachi (Desai) and I had to hang in there till the next day."
Ram admits that there have been times when actors go around blaming each other for not getting a shot right, and the same happened that day too. "Of course, that happens from sheer frustration," he admits. "It's all in a day's work. The next day presents another story, another struggle. It's all part of this industry."
