I am confused!
I mean the story is definitely incredible, it surely doesn't go in ways that you would expect a typical Bollywood film to flow. While watching the film, I felt like the storyline could go anywhere but the path that Imtiaz Ali chose to show his audience was fantastic. A sense of Sufism, I guess.
It was a refreshing but very slow paced film in the sense that most of what you see is the scenery- the mountains, the lakes, the sky, the road. Sometimes I was like' why am I watching this film?', it kinda got really close to boring but then the actual conflict is brought up and that's when the movie picks up its pace. That's in the second half. The stories of two very different individuals with a close to similar past who connect with each other so well.
The movie certainly will make you laugh, it will scare you (if you're a girl), it will astound you and definitely leave you with a peaceful feeling... (and if you are a bit mushy types, you might also cry)😳
As far as Alia's performance is concerned, I don't think that she was that good. Well, she definitely did improve a lot, there were some scenes which were done fabulously by her but I don't think she was consistent throughout. At times, it felt like she was mimicking Kareena Kapoor and other times she was not that into the character, like her expressions were meh...(it looked like she was acting, not real!). I feel if she could just do a little more better, the movie would have made me cry.😃
Randeep Hooda, this guy was awesome in the film. He totally looked the part and breathed the character. The way he performed in some parts, like the personal conflict, gave me goosebumps. This actor is so underrated. 👏
The songs were incredible, round of applaud for Mr Rahman. He has done it again! I especially though loved pataka guddi and Sooha Saha. The manner in which this songs were picturised were phenomenal. It engages you to the story when nothing else does.😆
I really felt strongly for this film from the start but I am not satisfied with it.😭 It is good... but I don't really think it was something that totally blew my mind. I would rather watch this film on dvd rather than going to the cinemas because there were so many parts that I would want to fast forward. It is a film that you could watch once and either like it or don't like it.
Watch 'Highway' if you liked Rockstar or if you want to see a more spiritual version of Anjaana Anjaani- it has a feel of both this films.😉
