Whatmore to leave Bangladesh post
Dav Whatmore
Whatmore is a former World Cup winner as Sri Lanka coach
Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore will step down from his post at the end of May, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed.

Whatmore's contract expires at the end of April but he has agreed to coach the team for three one-day internationals and two Tests against India in May.

The 53-year-old has expressed interest in being the next coach of India following Greg Chappell's resignation.

Ravi Shastri will take temporary charge of India for the Bangladesh trip.

Whatmore, who played in seven Tests for Australia, coached Sri Lanka to victory at the World Cup in 1996.

He took over the Bangladesh job after the 2003 World Cup, and helped them through to the Super Eight stage of this year's tournament, where they finished seventh.

Under his guidance, the team won 33 out of 88 one-day internationals, and he also coached them to a first Test victory, against Zimbabwe in January 2005.
