I absolutely hate this NRI storyline, I think it's so foolish. I am born and raised in Canada, and I think it's so pathetic. I don't understand why any girl would want to marry a guy just because he lives abroad? I really dislike this storyline of Gunjan being so desperate to live abroad. When you live abroad having an education is important. I think it's really weird how Gunjan just expects to get married, and have a man take care of her.

I wish she would learn to be independent and stand on her own feet. Now because of her mistake, she will always have to depend on someone else. She will always have to take other people's bullshit. I really hope the CV's show an importance of getting an education in this serial. I hope they shine a light on how marrying an NRI won't get you anywhere. It's important to be independent, and seeing Gunjan cry over this guy is disgusting. She makes herself look so pathetic and low.

What happened to loving your own country and being proud of it? I hate when serials shine such importance and how they make it sound so prestigious to go abroad. It really isn't, because most of the people who immigrate here work really hard labored jobs, and suffer minimum wage. If Gunjan really wants to go abroad, she should've gone to school and become something. Canada accepts people on work visa's as long as they are contributing to society. I know this is just a natak, but I hate how she just expects to get married and brought here.

Even if she was married to an NRI, she would not be respected. I think Gunjan knows she's messed up big time. I think thats why she has so much anger inside of her. I don't think she deserves to be with Ranvi at all. I think Ranvi would be selling himself short by being with a girl like Gunjan. She has no self-respect, and just depends on other people. I really hope another girl comes around for him. He deserves a girl who can help him run his household, and love his family. Not a girl like Gunjan!

Anyone else agree?

I agree. She can't just expect to go abroad and start a new life. She doesn't even know English for god's sake. If she had gotten an education she would have been able to stand on her own feet and go abroad on her own terms not by marrying a guy.

frankly i agree that living abroad is really not as rosy as it seems like.. i married and moved abroad and i know the harsh reality myself..
but coming to gunjan and her nri dreams.. firstly she is in a village and very less educated girl.. for her may be even going to a city like delhi and living might be actually a wow.. so abroad is like reaching the stars..she doesnt have any clue abt reality.. its just the glitter that matters.. if u see the episode of her engagement she clearly says that she wants to go away as far as noone of her family could actually reach her.. so if a guy from mars comes to marry her then she might say yes to him too..

coming to the show.. from childhood she had been by far the most sorted out sweet character of the show.. her support to ranveera even considering her mother and brother used to badly treat her ..she still used to be a very sweet girl..but 15 years post they have given a 360 degree turn to her... so if the makers have chosen to do that there is sure a big reason.. and i am waiting to know that.. one thing i have learnt in this show is that whatever happens now has some relevance in future.. and we cant predict the show at all..

and rest i dont know what will happen.. cant much predict.. but i think we have to come down 1000 steps from our city and modern mindset to understand the characters here,, may be go back in time too.. cos its quite a rural based show..and if i visit my village in india now.. i can feel that very huge gap in mentality..

this is just my pov.. kindly do not make it an issue of major discussion.. i wouldnt be interested..

I agree with you totally. I have lived most of my life in New Zealand. So I understand the "overseas" world. I also agree that Education is very important. I went to university and got a degree. For the past 10 years I have been working full time. I also got married and have two little kids now. So I recently quit my job to stay with my kids for awhile. (Working full time with 2 kids can be taxing). But I have the CHOICE of returning to a working environment when I wish to. But to have those choices one must get an education.

This whole "marry an NRI and have a great life" concept is SO false. Most of the foreigners who live here are very hard working and have build lives over many years for themselves and their families. My parents came here when we were young and we have built a life here. But it's not all rainbows and sunshine. There are sacrifices to be made as well! To think that someone just wants to marry a person and through them get everything they want is a disturbing concept for me! I was brought up to be independent! My Mum had a career and she was a graduate. So she always told me that being educated was paramount!

How Gunjan who is just vain and idle, expects to thrive in an environment that requires people to be independent is beyond me? She doesn't speak English and she has NO clue how things work in the western world! That Jagjeet guy would have chewed her up and spat her out before she can say "Canada"!

Btw, TM, this is totally off topic...but my mother's sister lives in Canada and has done for the past 25 years. So I have cousins who are Canadian too! :) I always wanted to visit Canada. It is on my bucket list! :) Growing up, I was a huge fan of Anne of Green Gables. When I found out that Anne was from Canada, I always wanted to visit there! My aunt who lives there sent me the whole series of books as a gift once!

P. S. I agree that Ranvi deserves someone with her head screwed on to her shoulders! Not someone with their head in the clouds like Gunjan! He needs someone down to earth. Gunjan is so fanciful and she has a persecution complex! She thinks everyone is out to get her! So I think Ranvi needs to find someone who is living on earth not on the moon! :)

I totally agree with Namrataji nd Moniloveasiya,Plz Guys stop bashing nd disliking Gunjan, its just a drama nd her character she is playing,nd one more thing Why some people of this Veera forum dislokes her so much that,it 's going on personal matter to some extent, they hate her from the beginning of the show post leap.I Really hate their this type of criticism nd comments on her.they just want to make her out of the show somehow any way without baseless, lame reasons nd xcuses.I also Love Ranvi vvvrrryyy much, but misunderstandings happen on other serial nd character also,so then why cant u bear it on this show!If they dont show any twists nd turns in the show through any Main characters then what will be the story, how the serial will go on.Kuch logon ko toh bahana chahiye Gunjan ko galiya dene ki aur kuch bhi karke, kahke sidelined karne ki,Ranvi ka Love interest maat dikhao,jo bhi ho,Yeh hain un logon ka chahat.one more thing,Ranvi ke liye kabhi agar koi dusri ladki agar ayegi bhi toh dekhna woh JAGJEET ke tadha kuch dino ka mehmaan honge, baad mein GUNJAN ke saath hi RANVI ka Rishta hogi,RANJAN is forever, from the beginning of the show Chhota Ranvi was interested nd had vry soft corner nd concern for Chhoti Gunjan.Kya aap woh saari episodes nahin dekha agar nahin dekha toh,aap logon ko maine kuch hints de toh diya.Hope that U wont bash me after reading this comment nd stop criticizing nd bashing Gunjan, just njoy the show nd wait nd watch.pehle se hi aapna faasla maat banaiye,Its a Psychological matters of the characters in the show, different character their different Psychology, views nd thinkings.🤗

i wish in the future they show that there comes a rishta for gunjan and they reject her bcoz of her incomplete education and tell her the harsh realities a village girl wud have to deal with if she plans to live abroad and that too so that gunjan stops dreaming abt her abroad life and for the first tym realises that her mother is the one who actually messed up her dream

I really dislike that they make it seem like an NRI will give her status. "NRI" don't have any status in Canada. They are normal folk, and have no status. I think Gunjan has her head in the clouds, and has no idea about the reality. Bansuri is also not smart at all. I've heard many stories of men who are abroad marry a girl from India, and when they bring her over they don't treat her well at all. Gunjan also needs to realize that what if her husband left her, where would she even go? She's not smart at all in her decision making. How would she go back to India, a ticket to India from Canada can cost up to 1000 dollars.

I also really disliked when she was telling Ranvi that for the rest of his life all he's going to be doing is working as a farmer. She needs to know that if she came to Canada, the only job she herself would be eligible for is working in someone's farm, being a berry picker, or working in a greenhouse because she has no education. Someone needs to slap Gunjan with some sense. Girls like her are pushed around like their nothing.

Omg Roopy. I too am from Canada and live in a predominantly Punjabi community, Surrey. I was thinking the same when I saw this track. It saddens mewhen they think Canada is paradise. Honey, it is the land of opportunity but you have to work for it. With the language barrier that Gunjan has she would also have a tough time navigating through the community. I also doubt she'd stay at home all day making roti. Many Punjabi women work labour jobs to help support the family. Is she that dumb to believe it's perfect here? Btw, a good film which outlines such issues is Videsh. It's a Deepa Mehta film set in Brampton, ON starring Preity Zinta. While I believe it is very extreme and not a reflection of the Punjabi community in Canada, it does show what could have hastened had Gunjan married Jagjit.

I live half an hour away from Surrey, and I know Surrey has a lot of punjabi's so I know you understand what I mean. Ladies are usually working in fast food resturants, or canery's, or in some kind of a warehouse. Canada is not a paradise at all, its a lot of hard work. Not to mention it's more of a city life meaning their isn't many personal relationship's or people to turn to. It's much more of an independent living. Also its hard to fit in because everyone has different values. I think it was funny with Jagjeet laughed at her when she said she would come to Canada and make her own little world. He even knew her head was in the clouds. The only way most punjabi's make it big here is by opening up their own business, which requires a lot of hard work.
