CHAPTER 64 (A). GEET'S PROPOSAL AND MAAN'S REACTION!

Day 15

Monday

Place - Khurana Constructions

When Geet Raizada entered the Office, everyone could feel the change in her. She was more smiling, more eager and most of all there was this nervous energy around her which anybody could feel. From seeing her, they could understand only one thing and that was that something special was going to happen in Geet's life today. But what the staff of Khurana Constructions did not know was that not only Geet's life, their boss, Maan Singh Khurana's life was also on the verge of change today.

Geet eagerly stood by the reception waiting for Pinky to end her phone call. The moment Pinky kept the phone down, Geet chirped, "Hi Pinky! Mr. Khurana aaye kya? Mera matlab MaanSir aaye kya?" Pinky shook her head as another phone rang, "Nahi! Abhi tak nahi aaye! Strange! Humesha time pe aa jaate hain. Aaj nahi aaye? Shaayad koi meeting ke liye gaye honge!" Pinky turned to answer another call while Geet waved her bye and walked towards Sasha's cabin. Maan nahi aaye? Lekin aaj toh unka koi meeting nahi hai? Warna Saturday ko yeh nahi kehte ki woh meri design early Monday morning hi dekhna chaahte hain! Nahi! Kuch toh gadbad hain! She turned around and walked towards Maan's secretary and asked her. The Secretary told her that MK Sir did not have any meeting today. Geet frowned. Phir Maan hai kahaan? Hey Babaji! Main toh aaj Maan ko apne dil ki baat bataane aayi thi aur aaj woh hi abhi tak nahi aaye! She pouted. Babaji dekhlo! Aaj mere pyaar ka izhaar ho jaana chaahiye, haan?

Place - Khurana Mansion

Dev looked into the room from behind the door. After staring for a second, he felt a pinch on his waist and he nearly shrieked. But he controlled himself and turned around to look at the person who pinched him. His pregnant wife smiled at him sweetly and then whispered while glaring at him, "Kya hua? Kya dekha?" Dev shrugged and whispered back, "Bro exercise kar rahe hain." They both inched around and looked from their hiding place and saw Maan break an ice block. Both of them winced and moved away. NT poked Dev, "Yeh Veerji yahaan kya kar rahe hain? Inhein toh Office mein hona chaahiye tha na?" Dev nodded. NT questioned again, "Waise toh Office jaane ka bahaana dhundhte hain. Kal toh Sunday tha phir bhi chale gaye. Phir aaj kya hua?" Dev shook his head signaling that he did not know. NT bit her lip and questioned again, "Aapko pata hai kya? Ki kyun Veerji Office nahi gaye?" Dev just gave her a look; a look that said Are you that stupid?' After a second, NT's eyes widened, "Oh! Aapko pata hota toh aap humein jaroor bataate nahi?" Dev rolled his eyes. NT frowned, "Aap unse baat kyun nahi karte?" This time Dev just smiled sarcastically, "Main kya paagal dikh raha hun jo sher ke mooh mein jaake haath daalunga?" NT shook her head. Dev continued, "Itni tumhein fikar hai toh tum jaaona!" NT's eyes widened in shock and she shook her head vigorously. No thank you! She was not an idiot! They inched ahead and again looked at Maan. This time Maan broke a wooden block and the couple winced again. NT mumbled, "Bahut ghusse mein lag rahe hain Veerji!" She shuddered as she thought of the anger in Maan's eyes. Dev frowned, "Pata nahi kis wajah se!" They moved away to their room and sat in confusion thinking. After two hours of thinking, talking and brainstorming, NT got an idea. She called the Office to talk to Maan's Secretary.

Place - Khurana Constructions

Geet huffed as she paged through the file in front of her. Yeh theek nahi kiya aapne Maan? Aisa koi karta hai kya? Main apne pyaar ka izhaar karne aayi aur aap hain ki gaayab hi hogaye! Geet felt so sad. After waiting for Maan's arrival in Sasha's cabin for an hour Geet had again approached Maan's secretary asking for any news on Maan only to come to know that Maan had decided to work from home. Now, Geet did not know what to do. Ab main kya karoon Babaji? Aaj kaise apne pyaar ka izhaar karoon? Babaji! This is not fair! So not fair!

Place - Khurana Mansion

As NT kept the phone she smirked. She turned and spoke to Dev, "Humne abhi Veerji ke Secretary ko call kiya yeh jaanne ke liye ki Maan ne aaj Office na jaane ka kya bahaana diya!" Dev frowned, "Aur kya jawaab diya usne?" NT sat beside Dev, "Woh keh rahi thi ki Veerji ghar se kaam karenge!" Dev was in confusion, "Par Bro toh paaglo ki tarah ice aur lakdi tod rahe hain!" NT smiled smugly, "Aur iska matlab kya hai?", she asked teasingly. Dev let out a huff, "Bro ya toh kisi wajah se naaraaz ya frustrated hain." "Exactly!", NT spoke triumphantly. She grabbed his arm excitedly, "Aapko pata hai Veerji ki Secretary bata rahi thi ki Geet do baar aake Veerji ke baare mein poochke gayi!" Dev was puzzled, "Toh?" NT slapped her forehead, "Arre! Buddhu! Geet wahaan Veerji se milne ke liye bechain aur yahaan Veerji kharaab mood mein! Iska matlab kuch samjhe aap?" Dev's eyes widened and then he smirked, "Yaani ki Office kuch toh hua jiski wajah se Bro Geet ko avoid kar rahe hain!" NT narrowed her eyes, "Yeh theek nahi hai Dev! Aisa lag raha hai jaise jab bhi Geet aur Veerji ke beech mein nazdeekiyaan badhegi tab tab Veerji use avoid karenge ya use apnea apse door karenge!" Dev shook his head, "Par NT! Yeh baat toh humein pehle hi pata thi na! Ki Bro is rishte ko phir se jud ne se rokne ke liye bahut ladenge!" NT pursed her lips, "Ab hum dono ko hi kuch karna hoga, taaki inki pyaar ki gaadi line pe aa sake. Bahut hogaya yeh luka chupi ka khel! Sab kuch saamne aane time hogaya hai!" Dev looked at her curiously, "Matlab? Soni ki Sachchai?" NT nodded. Dev stared at distance, "Par kaise?" NT smirked, "I have a plan!"

Place - Khurana Constructions

Geet packed her bags as she pondered the phone call she had gotten. Few minutes back, Dev had called her and told her to bring certain files to Khurana Mansion as Maan wanted to work from home. Geet had agreed. But now Geet was not sure! Files chaahiye tha yeh theek hai, par mujhe hi kyun bulaaya? She thought for a while when suddenly hope filled her heart. Kahin Maan bhi mujhse milne ke liye bechain... Nahi Nahi! Geet! Tu Jhalli hogayi hai! Khair jo bhi hai! Mennu ki? Mennu toh isse matlab hai ki mennu apne pyaar da izhaar aaj hi karne milega! She giggled and packed her bag happily.

Place - Khurana Mansion

Dev waved as the car drove away. The car carried NT and Daadima away to NT's Doctor. For their plan to fulfil, NT had decided that Daadima should be away from the house because the confrontation between Geet and Maan would definitely be explosive. They did not want Daadima to interfere in it. So, NT had called her Doctor and booked an appointment. She dragged Daadima away claiming that she wanted someone elderly with her and not a simpleton like Dev. Daadi had agreed and now all Dev had to wait was for Geet to arrive. After fifteen minutes, Geet arrived and Dev smirked. Chal beta! Lag jaa kaam pe! Aaj tere Bro ko uski Soni dilaani hai!

Geet entered the house looking around with nervousness. Even though while getting out of Office she was excited for her confession now nervousness had pierced her heart. She was not sure whether her idea of confessing was good or not. Kahaan hai Dev Sir? Dev smirked from his hiding place and came out with his phone glued to his ear acting as if he was talking into it. He talked for a while and then acted as if he just noticed Geet, "Are Geet! Aagayi? Ek kaam karo upar jaao aur left mein jo kamra khula hai woh Bro ka Office hai aur Bro wahi hain. Jaao Upar aur file Bro ko de do!" Before Geet could say anything, Dev walked out of the house still talking in the phone. Geet bit her lip in nervousness. Ab kya karoon Babaji? Akele upar jaaun? Chal Geet puttar! Apne Maan se mil le! Aur Babaji ne himmat de di toh pyaar ka izhaar bhi kar lena! She trudged towards the stairs. Dev smirked from his hiding place. He had just acted that he was going outside but hid behind the door. As he stood there Dev hoped that Geet reached the right room. You see, the room Dev had told Geet to go was not Maan's study as Geet thought. It was Soni's room; the same room which Maan had kept locked for months and the same room which Dev had opened just today. Jaao Geet jaao! Aur milo apne ek aise chehre se jise tum bhool gayi! Milo mere Bro ki Soni se! Aaj woh bhi tumse milna chaahegi!

Geet climbed the stairs in trepidation. Main aa rahi hoon Maan! Apne dil ka aapko haal sunaane! She gulped and slowly climbed the stairs each step making her heart beat faster. By the time she reached the top, her heart was racing and her palms were sweating. Butterflies were flying around in her stomach. Babaji! Bacha lena! She took a deep breath and turned left. As she walked she passed a door but it was closed. The next door was also closed. She walked further to encounter an open door. This is it, Geet! Tere zindagi ka sabse important din aagaya hai! She smiled excitedly and entered the room only to stop in shock. Yeh kis kamre mein Dev Sir ne bhej diya! The room seemed like a normal bedroom but everything was covered in cloths as if to protect it from dust. From the bed to the cupboard, from the table to photos on the wall, everything was covered with cloth for protection. She worriedly took a step ahead. On her left she saw a table and she swiped her hand on it. Her hand was covered in dust. "Itni dhool!", Geet exclaimed in shock. "Yeh kamra toh kai dino se band kiya hua lagta hai! Toh phir Dev Sir ne mujhe yahaan kyun bheja?" She took another step ahead. "Kiska kamra tha yeh jise is tarah band rakha tha! Na koi cleaning or na koi dusting! Aisa hai kya is kamre mein! Store room toh lagta nahi hai!" Geet was confused but her natural curiosity came fore and she walked ahead to explore. Suddenly, she stopped as something came into her mind. "Agar yeh kamra band karna hi tha toh photos ko kyun yahaan choda! Kuch toh gadbad hai!" She trudged ahead and pulled the cover from one of the photo only to take a step back in shock. The photo was of Daadima, NT, Dev, Maan and herself. "Yeh kab ki tasveer hai?" Geet murmured as she pulled it from the wall. She did not remember taking any photo like this. She looked at the photo carefully. Daadima was seated on a chair while Maan and Dev stood behind her. Dev had an arm around NT while Geet stood beside Maan. She carefully looked at the photo Geet's dress. It was a dress she did not think she owned. She frowned in confusion when suddenly it struck her. This must be from the time of her memory loss. Didn't she live with Khuranas after she lost her memory? She smiled at that thought when her eyes widened. Iska matlab yeh mera kamra hai? She looked around excitedly. But then she stopped. Kahin main galat hui toh? She bit her lip and placed the photo on the table. She looked around her eyes searching for some concrete proof that this was her room. Suddenly, her eyes reached the wardrobe and she smiled. She walked towards it and pulled it open. Her eyes widened at the collection of salwar kameezes in it. She noticed the salwar kameez she was wearing in the photo hanging in the cupboard. She smiled softly. Toh yeh kamra mera hi hai! She closed the cupboard and she looked around wanting to know more about her life with Maan. She saw a big portrait hanging on the wall. She walked towards eagerly and pulled the cover away. What she saw took her breath away. There sat Geet on a chair like some princess dressed in a beautiful pink Saree. Geet's eyes wondered through the clothes and jewels the Geet in the portrait was wearing. Her eyes widened. Yeh Saree! Yeh toh wahi hai jo NT ne mujhe di thi pichle saal! She took a step back and loosing her balance she fell on the bed. She giggled eagerly. This was supposed to be her bed. She got up in excitement and looked around when her eyes fell on a book on the bedside table. She grinned. Is that the book she used to read here? She took the book and opened it and a gasp came out of her mouth. Hey Babaji! Yeh kya hai? She stared the first page in awe. There stood Maan dressed in black Sherwani with Duppatta over his shoulders. Hey Babaji! Maan kitne handsome lag rahe hain! Kahin inhein meri hi nazar na lag jaaye! She saw Maan Bro on my wedding day! This is his book!' scribbled below the picture. Lagta hai Dev Sir ne likha hai! She turned the page and giggled as she saw the next photo. It was of baby and below it was written, Mera Puttar Maan'. Maan kinne cute lag rahe hain! The next picture got Geet laughing. It was of Maan at the age of two but with a stern expression which she had seen on older Maan's face everyday. Bachpan se hi lagta hai yeh aisi the! She laughed again and started looking through the scrapbook. As she went through the photos, she sometimes laughed and sometimes smiled tenderly as she realized that the book was filled with Maan's young age pictures. Some were with his parents, some with his siblings, and some with his Dadi. There were some featuring NT and Arjun too. But after Maan's 12 year old pic there seemed to be no pic of him; only blank pages. Geet shrugged; Shayad jisne bhi yeh banaaya ho usne aur tasweer lagaane band kar diye! She was about to close the book when the book fell out of her hands. She picked it up and noticed that when the book had fallen some page had opened up. She realized that someone had written on it after leaving some blank pages after the photos. She went to the first page of writing and read through it.

Geet frowned as she read those lines. Handwriting to Maan ki hai! Bechaare! Lagta hai zindagi unki badi tanha kati hai! She sighed sadly and turned the page. Her eyes widened as she read the next lines.

Maan smashed another wooden block with his hand but his anger remained intact. Mujhe phir se iss pyaar ke chakkar mein nahi padna! Pichle baar toh sirf dil toota tha, lekin iss baar agar Geet mujhe chodke chali gayi toh main hi toot jaaunga! NAHI! No more Geet! NO MORE GEET! Maan moved ahead and smashed another block in front of him. He started practicing tai-chi trying to immerse himself in it and trying to forget Geet when, "Maan!" a soft voice called him and Maan stiffened.

Geet was searching for Maan in the whole house when she heard the noise of something breaking from a nearby room. She neared the room and looked into it. Geet was left breathless at what she saw. There stood Maan in the middle of the room dressed in nothing but black pants practicing some moves. Geet just stood there staring at his body. Her heart started racing and her hands longed to touch him. Her body longed to be in his arms and she was filled with desire of being close to him. She was broken out of her thoughts when Maan smashed a block. Geet looked at the block and then at his hand in shock. Hey Babaji! Haath hain ya hathoda! She gulped and slowly entered the room. Bas Geet! Ab bol de apne dil ki baat! "Maan!", she spoke in a soft voice and saw Maan stiffen and stand still. She took that as an encouragement and started speaking.

Maan felt his heart race. Geet! Yahaan! Before he could turn around, she started speaking, "Aapki Soni aapse kuch kehna chaahti hai Maan!" Maan's eyes widened in shock. Soni?? Kahin Geet ko sab kuch yaad toh nahi aa gaya! His heart hammered in his chest with hope at that thought. Geet continued speaking, "Aapki Soni yeh kehna chaahti hai ki woh aapse bahut pyaar karti hai Maan!" Maan turned and looked at her with tear filled eyes. Geet also gave a teary smile. Maan walked swiftly towards her and grabbed her by her arms, "Kya tumhein sab kuch yaad aagaya? Kya tumhein pata hai ki tum meri kya lagti ho?" Maan looked at her with hope and happiness in his eyes. All he wanted was for her to remember everything. Geet shook her head, "Mujhe kuch yaad nahi!" Maan left her shoulders and stumbled backwards. He balanced himself before he could fall but his eyes showed the devastation he felt. "Toh... phir...", he mumbled in confusion. That is when he saw the diary in her hand and everything clicked in place. He schooled his expressions into a blank mask, "Oh! Toh tumne woh diary padhi!" He pointed towards the diary and glared at her, "Us diary mein mera past hai. Use yaad dilaake apne liye mere dil mein jagah banaane ki koshish na karo!" He turned around and placed his hands on his hips. Geet moved few steps ahead, "Par Maan is diary ne kuch nahi kiya! Isne toh sirf mujhe apna past bataaya! Par pyaar toh main aapse tabhi bhi karti thi aur aaj bhi karti hun. Haan! Mr Khurana! In kuch dino mein mujhe aapse pyaar hogaya! Aapki Soni phir se aapki hona chaahti hai!" Maan turned around swiftly. He grabbed her arms and shook her, "Naam mat lo Soni ka! Kyunki uska pyaar mujhe nahi chaahiye!" He left her and she took a step back at his words. He glared at her, "Soni mujhe bhool hi gayi! Kaisa pyaar tha uska? Jo mujhe bhool gaya! Ek jhoka aaya aur uska pyaar kamzor pad gaya! Tum bhi wahi karogi! Ek problem aayega aur tum bhi mujhe chod dogi! NAHI! Mujhe tumhaara pyaar bilkul bhi nahi chaahiye! Soni mar chuki hai aur main isi sach ke saath jiyunga!" He looked away. Geet felt anger well up in her at his words. Till then she wanted to convince him that she loved him but now! Now she would tell him what she felt about his love. She understood that he was hurt due to her forgetting him but questioning her love, how dare he! She walked towards him and pushed him back, "Kya samajhte ho aap apne aapko? Soni ke pyaar pe ungli uthaate ho? Aur aapka pyaar? Woh kaun sa mahaan tha? Main aapko bhool gayi toh kya hua? Aap toh aa sakte the na? Mujhe yaad dila sakte the na? Aur mujhe yaad nahi toh mujhe phir se apne pyaar mein deewana bana sakte the na? Lekin aap! Ek mushkil aur aap peeche hat gaye!" "GEET!", Maan roared at her. "Chillayiye mat! Chillaan mujhe bhi aata hai!", Geet glared at him. Maan looked away. Both of them were taking deep breaths due to anger. Maan closed his eyes and calmed his anger. He took a deep breath, "Tum yahaan apne pyaar ka izhaar karne aayi hona! Jaao! Main tumhein inkaar karta hun. Nahi pyaar karta main tumse!" Geet looked at him devastated.
