Part 12

Madhu was sitting on a chair in a secluded corner now. She was staring blankly at the floor. She was not dejected but she wanted to get things straight in her mind. She had been a stratight forward girl... she had dealt with everything all situations but only when things were clear and clean in fromt of her. But this kind of situation which seemed so obvious in front of her yet it was not there. Rishabh said her not to love him but how he knows I love him. Or whether that song was really a message to her or was it just nothing. Just another song and meant nothing. What should she believe- that what was there in the eyesight or what she really felt was going on. How could she confront him when she has absolutely no idea whether what je said just now was something meaningful or just an entertainment. But it looked as if he wants to talk to me. His eyes were so sorrowful and capturing.
Rishabh was observing her from a distance. He hated himself for what Madhu was going through. It was all because of him. He couldnt understand what he should do to calm her down.
Madhu stood up determined and walked out of the hall. Rishabh turned to her side to see her but found her absent. He felt agitated and he stood up with a jerk and turned his head all around to look for Madhu. He saw her walk out of the door. He followed Madhu who was now walking out of the building. He ran to her..
"Madhu... Madhu... " He called out to her as he came close to her.
Madhu stopped hearing his voice but didnt turn back. She had a determined face.
" Going somewhere?"
"You were there right? " Madhu said without turning to him. Her voice denoted a strom that was going in her heart.
Rishabh was confused what she was talking about exactly.. " I was where Madhu... I cant understand." he said politely.
"In my cabin in the afternoon... when i said I " She stopped midway. Her voice was growing heavier because of the pain as she controlled herself from breaking down.
Rishabh stood there dumbstruck. He didnt know what to say. All this ehile he was trying to convince her not to love him. And he himself was not ready to break her heart at all. Then how could he say lie that too at this time when she needs to know things so badly.
" I asked you something Rishabh... tell me..." Madhu said as she turned to face him and looked him straight into the eyes. She was now confident of herself as she felt that what she was thinking was right.
" I dont... know ... Madhu.. what are you saying " Rishabh managed to speak out.
" ohh... so you dont know what i am saying... I am asking you Mr. Rishabh Kundra... were you in my cabin this afternoon...?" she tied her arms at the chest.
"No.. I wasn't " he looked away... as he was not able to bear the pierce of her eyes anymore.
"LIE... again... if you were not there then how do you know what I said at that time... and why are you not looking me in my eyes... "
" Listen Madhu... calm down"
" Who gave you the right to play with my feelings?" Madhu now raised her voice. "who gave you the right to make a joke out of my feelings... even jokes have a limit... everything is not to be played with. I told you my feelings because I trusted you... i didnt even think twice before saying that to you.. i didnt even think what would I do if you refuse me... because I thoght that however our relation may be but we do respect each other. And you did this... you walked away from there and then made me believe that I was dreaming of you and now this drama at tje party... This was not a joke RK... This was a really dirty prank " Madhu said the last line with disgust.
Rishabh was looking at her in shock... he didnt understand how his actions were so greatly misunderstood. He did that for her happiness and she thinks that he was joking or playing another prank.
"Madhu you are taking me wrong... its not... "
"yes I took you wrong... took you wrong and thought that I could trust ypu with my secrets... If you didnt love me you could have just said a 'no'... but you played with me like that... why did you not say that you dont love me... and why do hell care for me so much if you dont love me... you come to pick me up, you come to drop me home... even now you left your party for me... why... why do you care at all... why do you look at me like that when you dont love me... tonight when you came to pick me up... why did you look at me like that... answer me RK... WHY?" Madhu almost shouted at him and Rishabh now lost his temper too.
"BECAUSE I love you... you ask me why i didnt say that i dont love you at that time... its because I DO... you ask me why I looked at you like that when i dont have feelings for you... because I DO.. you say why I care for you like that if I dont love you.. its because I DO... Rishabh was holding her arms and had pulled her close to him.
Madhu looked at him in shock. Her mind was now blank as Rishabh stared her in her eyes. After a few seconds he loosened his grip and Madhu moved a little away. There was now a silence between them. Both didnt know what to say. Rishabh on one hand was dismal that he told her the truth and didnt know what to do now.. while Madhu was confused too, should she be happy that he loves her or upset that he didnt want to tell her.
Rishabh walked to his car which was parked in front of them. He stands on the opposite side of his car and was facing away from Madhu. He ran his hand through his hair in anger. He turns around and looks at her. Madhu was looking at him in pain and she had tears now rolling through her cheeks. He punched his car roof in anger seeing her tears. He made her cry and he wanted to beat himself up for that. Madhu broke out from her thoughts and quickly wiped off her tears. Rishabh was angry on himself. But he didnt know what else he could have done.
" Do we have to stay here all night?" He called out to her.
Madhu quickly walked towards the car nervously. And they both sat in the car.
There was uncomfortable silence between the two. Madhu was confused what she should talk. She had wanted to hear that RK loves her but now that she knows she didnt know what to do. Should she declare her love again in return or should she say sorry to RK that he loved her when he didnt want to love her. What does that even mean... love me when he doesnt want to love me... how can that happen.. you love someone when you want them right... then.. ohh god what am i thinking... this is no time to ponder over love matters. What to say to RK...
Rishabh on the other hand was just angry over himself... he didnt know why. He confessed his love and there is nothing wrong in that. Then why is he so much upset. Granted that I didnt want to tell her. But how will I explain to her now... oh my god.. she can burst anytime on why I didnt say that i love her or why i didnt want her to love me. How will i make her understand my situation. I cant keep her in sorrow and if i keep her with me she would have to face so many problems. Ohhoo wen will we reach her place before she bursts out on me.

They reached her home and Rishabh stopped the car. Madhu jerked as she came out of her thoughts and looked around to remember where she was. She looked at RK and a frown came on her face. Rishabh understood that what he dreaded the whole drive is just about to happen. He just looked at her anticipating what she was going to say next. She looked at his face which clearly showed his fear on Madhu's outburst. She opened her mouth to see Rishabh's reaction and Rishabh bent backward with clenching face as if he knew Madhu was going to shout her heart out at him. Madhu saw him and burst out laughing. Rishabh looked at her in wide eyed shock. 'Is this woman for real?? She is laughing like that in a situation like this...'
Madhu couldnt control herself and was now holding her stomach seeing his even more shocked expression. Rishabh's lips now twisted into a smile. And he just nodded his head side to side thinking who of the two among them is the stupid one.
Madhu now settled down. She understood this was not the time to ask questions. She stretched her hand forward and ruffled his hair... "Good Night Dumbo... see you tomorrow" ... Saying that she got down of the car and went away. Rishabh looked at her surprised and thrilled. He was dreading Madhu's outburst and moreover that Madhu would cry or something which he wont be able to bear. He never was able to see Madhu's eyes in tears. but she again left him out of words. He smiled to himself and touched his hair which were ruffled by Madhu as if to feel her touch. And he drove off.
