PART 1

Our two mortal enemies still continue to get the better of each other by being as competent as possible, be it in their assignments, projects, exams and even classroom participation. Their constant bickering was the primary cause of annoyance to Prof. Vardhan. So, he formulated a plan by which they would realize the worth of the other and stop fighting and bickering the whole time. One tiny problem and it would spark into a humungous fight between the two. He wanted to put an end to it, once and for all. Also, he wanted to make them better and respectable engineers. He put his plan into action by making the following morning announcement.

"First year mechanical engineering students of FITE, assemble in the mechanical lab in exactly 45 minutes. I have a very important announcement to make." Sanyukta and Kaustuki were still sleeping until their warden came and jerked them out of their beds. "Yeh warden ki problem kya hai? Subah subah itna kyun chilati hai?" complained Sanyukta. "Thank God that she woke us up. Varna we would have been late for Vardhan Sir's big announcement," replied Kaustuki. "Haan, you're right!" said Sanyukta. They both got out of bed and got ready quickly. In no more than 40 minutes, they reached the mechanical lab. As expected, Randhir and Jiggy were already there. Sanyukta and Randhir exchanged their customary fake smiles and smirks while Kaustuki and Jiggy exchanged warm smiles.

"So, you farzi engineers, I haven't called you here just to look at your beautiful faces. Stop smiling and listen carefully to what I have to say." Jiggy who was flashing his 32 - watt smile at Kaustuki understood the hint and discreetly sealed his lips. Vardhan Sir continued, "The college wants to give you as much academic exposure as possible. There is an engineering expo happening in Delhi after 2 days and all of you are going. There will be no argument about this. All your parents have consented to this trip. My decision is final." With that, Vardhan Sir stormed out of the class. Randhir thought to himself, "Which parents of mine have consented?" He looked down and shook his head. Just then, the girl who he abhorred the most, disgusted the most, Sanyukta Agarwal, was walking towards him. "Mr. Hot Shot, listen carefully to me," she said. "Don't try anything funny with me this time. This is our first trip as a class. And if anything goes wrong in Delhi, I'll know whom to blame. So be careful for your own good."

"Aapka hukum sar ankhon par, mere aaka," replied Randhir with a smirk. What does this girl think she is, thought Randhir. First he thought he should really make a foolproof plan to trouble her, but then he just gave her his traditional caustic smirk and left her thinking about the several ways in which he wasn't going to trouble her. Pagal hai yeh ladka, thought Sanyukta and left the lab to go to her dorm. Randhir smiled smugly and made his way back to his dorm.

Both of them started packing in their respective dorms and soon forgot about the encounter they had just had.

PART 2

The day of their departure arrived soon enough. Randhir, Jiggy, Kaustuki and the rest of the batch were as excited as little children because of they would get to see state-of-the-art technology and top notch machines. But Sanyukta wasn't too happy to go to Delhi because her father and brother were still upset with her. She wanted to avoid all contact with them as much as possible. She felt worse because she couldn't go home to meet her mother whom she loved the most in the world. If she went home, she would invariably come across either her father or her brother or even both. So she decided she wouldn't let her family be a part of her thoughts anymore. She would let the machines at the expo occupy her mind for these next 3 days. While these thoughts were running through her mind, she didn't see the rotting log of wood obstructing her path. She kept walking on and eventually tripped over her feet. She would have fallen on the ground and hit her head had a strong, soft pair of hands not held her. She was taken aback to see that this pair of hands belonged to the one person whose very face was bad luck to her. Randhir Singh Shekhawat. She couldn't believe that he was actually helping her. She looked into his brown - black eyes for a moment and quickly got back on her own feet. Randhir shook his head, smiled under his breath and said softly, "Girls, so careless all the time." "Thanks," she muttered and got onto the bus. Randhir was left behind wondering why she hadn't come up with her usual banter about how girls are equal to men. Weird, he thought and got onto the bus as well.

He found a seat as far away from her as possible because he didn't want to get involved with her regarding anything, at least on the journey. Randhir, who had a tough exterior and love-hating image, actually loved something other than himself. Travelling. He was one of the few people who loved the destination more than the journey itself. He loved looking out of the window as the vehicle passed by an area. He observed the people, their demeanors and mannerisms. He was grateful that his mother didn't take even that away from him. He quickly found himself a window seat at a fair distance from Sanyukta and kept his bag on the adjacent seat, clearly indicating that he didn't want it to be occupied. Everyone knew better than to mess with Randhir, so nobody asked him to vacate the seat next to his.

Meanwhile, Sanyukta had occupied a window seat as well and Kaustuki came and sat next to her. None of the two uttered a word. Soon, Sanyukta fell into a deep slumber. Except Randhir & Sanyukta, every other student on the bus was enjoying himself/herself as they sang and danced all night long. After all, they wouldn't be away from the campus as a batch anytime soon. Vardhan Sir had especially arranged for snacks, drinks and music for the entire batch. Everybody was pleasantly surprised to learn that THE Vardhan Sir had personally made the arrangements so they could enjoy themselves. So they made the most of the situation and stayed up the entire night.

Only if they knew that Vardhan Sir had a fantastic plan up his sleeve and they were just junior artists in his entire blockbuster movie.

Hahaha...junior artists in his blockbuster movie...obvio...main stars are our sanyu n randhir!! Waiting to see all his tricks n plans...its gonna be good, very good!! (Vardhan ishtyle)😊
