Jalal on the back foot can be a very dangerous Jalal and parading his failures in such a fashion might force Jodha to rise from her deathbed before schedule and give you a piece of her mind. Did she really drink poison for this? A sultanate in shambles? Sssh! Better not let her hear.
Rewinding a bit... all interested parties gathered for the nikaah. Jodha was mentally rehearsing her rescue plan, while Jalal's mental state required Jodha to reflect in the font for him. When the moment came, Jodha gracefully stopped the Shahenshah from ingesting vish. Her goodbyes were equally for Salima and Hamida Banu as much as for Jalal. Salima could only manage a helpless shake of her head. But Jodha was right. Words really don't do much after a certain point. They can't save a situation. They can't stop one from seeing the nonsensical way in which Jalal would have neared death's door. So she decided to stop the whole thing and leave.
As Jalal broke her fall and held her, their hands met and we were treated to all the past moments their hands had kissed. From the mandap till now. It was that first hand-meet that had made Jalal's hand shake with the weight of what was happening - his marriage to Jodha. It was that sentiment that he had shared with Jodha one fateful night. But Jodha said she didn't want to share Tan or Man. She said she felt no Prem for him. That was the start of this. Whatever Kartavya and Prem may mean to Jodha, Jalal is certain he cannot continue being this Jalal. He is also more sure that Jodha cannot continue being this Jodha. There is another Ja and Jo that can be set free and allowed to breathe. All it had needed was this mad confluence of events.
Poor Benazir was hoarse reciting the long list of Bewakoof Awards. She was relieved to be able to briefly escape on horseback. Feisty Ruqaiya had to end up rescuing herself, but it was worth it if it means she has got her groove back.
The precap predicts that Jodha will remain unconscious till Wednesday at least and Jalal bows to a higher authority for the life of his beloved.
I am no closer to knowing where to set the bar on the ghrina-prem meter ...wake up Jodha...wake up...
