The only person in the world who can carry off silver shoes with style is Prince. Akshay Kumar is not Prince. Which is why the actor, otherwise dressed in sedate shades of grey, looked as though he'd walked off the sets of a music video forgetting to change just his footwear. That and his frequent deadpan cracks at Johar's expense, which made the host whine that Akki was "firing me like Arnab does on that Times Now news channel", were the only truly funny moments on the show. On the whole, Kumar was piously reluctant to dish up any dirt on his peers. As usual, we sniff out the bullshit factor, rating it on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being a crock o' Leprechaun gold, and 1 being honest-to-God sainthood.

For all the airtime given to Akshay Kumar's absent wife, the show was as much about Twinkle Khanna as her beefy husband. Karan Johar said, more times than we could count, that he has known Khanna, aka Tina, all his life and confessed that she's the only woman he thought he was in love with. It's a pity that Khanna chose to stay away from the show because, Kumar said, she was afraid her lack of discretion would end up ruffling Bollywood folks. She might have been more irreverent than her husband who sagely said that he doesn't like speaking ill of people.

But Kumar didn't give. Johar tried time and again to get Kumar to spill the beans on some or other controversy the actor has been involved in but was met with studied platitudes. On his beefwith director Shirish Kunder over Joker, which according to reports Kumar refused to promote, all he said was, "Something wasn't right." On his reputation as a Casanova, Kumar said his wild days ended after marriage because "when you have children waiting back home, you just want to run home." The only time the joke was on Kumar was during the bit when other actors were interviewed about him. Lara Dutta revealed that Kumar has such trouble remembering his lines that prompts are placed near the camera and even pasted on his co-stars' bodies to help him get through a scene.

Kumar gave as good as he got, often leaving Johar speechlessly giggling like an adolescent. It turns out that Kumar likes to begin his day at the crack of dawn. He had wanted to shoot the episode at 6am but had to settle for 9am. When Johar asked why he tortures people with his schedule, Kumar said, punning on "ullu" the Hindi word for owl which also means fool, that only owls stay up late, presumably a dig at Johar who admitted going to bed at 3am every day. Later on when Johar asked why Kumar rarely worked with Bollywood's big production companies, choosing instead to do films with lesser known filmmakers, Kumar pointed out that the Chopras and Johars of the industry never gave him a break. The only time he had a naughty answer about a fellow filmy personality was in response to Johar's question about which Bollywood person he thought needed a stylist, therapist and gym membership. All three answers were Sajid Khan.
