The Vampire Diaries season 5, episode 12, "The Devil Inside," aired tonight and we saw Tyler wanting Caroline back and Katherine doing mischievous things once again. Check out our recap of the episode!
No Corpse For You!
-Matt and Elena/Katherine meet up and apparently it's Katherine, who takes off Matt's vervain bracelet and admits to everything. She needs Matt to tell her how to be Elena. She compels him.
-The travelers need Katherine's corpse in order to make the switch permanent. They have no idea when Elena will come out instead of Katherine, so Nadia handcuffs Katherine to the bed.
-Nadia goes to get the body but Damon already "got rid" of it.
-Damon refuses to give it to her.
-Tyler is staying at his old house/aka Matt's house and is already drinking at 7 a.m. Bummed out, man.
-Tyler tells Matt that his revenge plan is over and he's starting fresh.
-Matt decides to throw him a welcome back party.
-Caroline is compulsively cleaning her dorm when Aaron walks in. He cut off his guardian's funding, and they shouldn't expect trouble from Wes again.
-Enzo shows up at Aaron's dorm.
-Stefan calls Caroline to tell her that he convinced Damon to get back with Elena, and Caroline realizes it's not so bad. Stefan can't find Elena and Caroline doesn't know where she is either.
-Elena manages to bring her consciousness back when she's handcuffed to the bed, and she finally realizes what's happened.
Elena/Katherine/Elena/Katherine/Elena
-Elena manages to get out of the handcuffs but right as she reaches her phone, Nadia shows up.
-Stefan is trying to convince Damon to give Nadia Katherine's body back, but he won't.
-Damon is miserable because Elena isn't answering his calls.
-Caroline comes by to help Damon get Elena back, but Damon doesn't want her help.
-Katherine wants to go to Tyler's party, pretend to be Elena and find out where her body is. She thinks she can mimic Elena perfectly.
-Nadia points out she isn't mimicking Elena, she IS Elena. She needs to study up.
-Tyler wants to know if Caroline is coming to the party, and he admits he wants Caroline back. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE, TYLER.
-Enzo shows up at the Salvatore mansion, with a mysterious black bag that looks to be filled with a body.
Damon has Changed
-Enzo realized what Damon did to the Whitmore line, and thinks the Damon he remembers is alive and well. He brought Aaron Whitmore, who's alive!
-Enzo asks if Damon will kill him, or if he has to.
-Katherine shows up to the party but she's stuck at the door, Matt invites her in.
-Stefan asks Elena where she's been, but Katherine just shrugs it off. (Who do we reference Nina Dobrev as?!)
-Katherine asks how Stefan is doing about Katherine's death and he says he's fine. Katherine suggests a funeral, says she wants to drop off flowers but only Damon knows where her body is.
-Enzo doesn't think Damon has changed, tries to get him to kill Aaron. Damon is hesitating.
-Damon decides to snap Enzo's neck instead. He compels Aaron to leave town forever.
-Katherine thinks her body is in the tomb underneath the church, she and Nadia go to find it.
-Caroline tries to talk to Katherine/Elena and tells her that she slept with Klaus.
-Katherine/Elena has no idea who she's talking about and Caroline admits it was Klaus.
-Tyler overhears that Caroline slept with Klaus, because Katherine/Elena did it on purpose. She leaves and Tyler walks away. #Awkward
Tyler: Always Drunk, Always Mean
-Nadia and Katherine find Katherine's corpse, and they start doing the spell to make the change permanent.
-The traveler rips open Katherine's body and gets some of Katherine/Elena's blood.
-However, Elena's consciousness shows up.
-Nadia starts to think something is up but Elena pretends to be Katherine - pretending to be Elena.
-Tyler is pissed that Caroline slept with Klaus, who killed thousands of people.
-Tyler tells Caroline to leave, but she doesn't want to. Stefan walks in to get between them, and Tyler tells him what Caroline did.
-Caroline walks out, distressed. Tyler being a dick points: 100000000.
-Stefan punches Tyler saying Caroline didn't deserve it, and leaves.
-Elena knocks out the Traveler doing the spell and runs away after impaling Nadia with a metal poker.
Elena Goes Bye Bye
-Damon shows up to the party, looking for Elena. But he can't get in the house either.
-Nadia wakes up the traveler and tells her to finish the spell.
-Elena tries to use her phone but Katherine/Elena put a lock code on it. SMART.
-Elena starts to see all of Katherine's memories as the traveler finishes the spell.
-More and more of Katherine's thoughts invade Elena's mind and Katherine's body goes up in flames.
-The traveler, with hair from the 80s, is finished with the spell as Elena finally meets up with Damon.
-However, before Elena can tell Damon what's up, the spell is finished and Katherine took over Elena's body again.
-Damon tries to get Elena back, and tells her she's the best person he's ever known.
-Katherine tells him she doesn't want to worry about being the only thing he lives for.
-Katherine breaks up with Damon. ARGH! FEELS.
Everything Is WRONG
-Matt finds Tyler drunk, again, in his home. He's reveling in all the bad things in his life.
-Matt suggests that they get out of town for a while, to get away from everything.
-Tyler starts crying over what Klaus did.
-Katherine rips the heart out of the traveler who did the spell.
-She admits that she isn't going to go anywhere. She's not running anymore, she's safe.
-Nadia asks what she should do, and Katherine tells her to stay. She'll try to be a good mother to her.
-Katherine wants Stefan. The whole...doppleganger attraction thing.
-Caroline asks Stefan if she's a horrible person for sleeping with Klaus.
-Stefan says she's a horrible person and she's shallow and he starts making jokes with her. Awww.
-Aaron runs into Enzo in the middle of the street as he's driving out of town.
-Damon is with Enzo, because he's sick of trying to be good again.
-He attacks Aaron, who bleeds out on the street.
