Ghaziabad: Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said if voted to power, the Samajwadi Party (SP) would "remove" unemployment from Uttar Pradesh.
"No party can provide a stable government in the state except the Samajwadi Party and a stable government is the only solution to the problems of the public," he said addressing an election rally here.
Promising increase in allowances to jobless youth and "kanyadaan" to girls, Yadav claimed if his party assumed power, it would "ensure that there is no unemployment".
Blaming the Congress for the rise in inflation, he said the poor are "getting poorer" in the Congress-led regime at the Centre. No political party had any issue for the betterment of the people, he alleged. Meanwhile, his arch-rival and BSP chief Mayawati claimed only her party could restore peace and order in the state.
Addressing an election rally, she alleged there was "secret pact" between the SP and the BJP. The parties have fielded candidates so as to "facilitate each other's success at the hustings".
"Neither the BJP nor the Congress were interested in the well being of the people of Uttar Pradesh," she said.
Mayawati cautioned voters against political parties trying to indulge in misinformation campaign to divide them on the poll eve and asked voters to remain vigilant against any such move to defeat the BSP.Exhorting people to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise, the BSP chief asked her woman supporters to caste their vote before beginning their daily chores.
