Superb as usual.

I can't highlight lines as I'm with my IPAD.

Very significant description of khushi's color selection. I always learn so many things from your post. Though Arnav was annoyed on Khushi for choosing black for him, but his life was kind of black with hate and acrimony That time. But it was also proved that he didn't want black on him. He actually loves color, so that he fall in love with colorful Khushi.

I absolutely loved the scene when Arnav protected Khushi with his hand. Very appropriate assimilation of the scene with the hospital scene. He is always his protector. And you are also right about khushi's behavior with Arnav. When she asked money from him, she was not hesitant or she didn't have any inhibition too. That means she considered him as her own.

OH he is so into this colorful lady and wants her to embrace him with all of his darkness..his yearning to hear from her that she needs him , he is the one and only one she is desiring for...

Shyam was just filthy and nasty. I have nothing to say about Anjali's dumbness. Either she was too dumb to understand or she was too smart who intentionally ignored her husband fallacy. It was good that Arnav noticed how Khushi fled from Shyam. I wonder why Shatir Arnav didn't think that Khushi avoided Shyam? Didn't he see khushi's fear when Shyam tried to,put color on her. Or moreover Shyam also muttered that Khushi was escaping from him .

Anjali is not dumb or smart , she is one of those women who wants to go by the flow without thinking much...she is a weak woman...and in our sub continent it is very common to submit herself in the hands of God like hubby and let him do whatever..he can't be wrong...You and I are one of those women who think and want equality and sense in any relation...but we are here and over there women like us are out of circle mostly and I am surprised after time has passed but thinking is same like Leech ..still sucking blood

In red , Arnav is watching and that's why he was protecting her...why do u think he never confronted her...two reasons

one he is afraid to lose her IF she is in love with him

2nd IF she is not , he will lose her still because of his ill actions...

But he is watching and stamping everything and comes out for her and didn't u see his smile when HIS family accepts his KHUSHI with warm embrace...HE is happy that finally he got her and his family found her with peace...He takes charge to apply Gulal and stopped Shyam but again it os just the beginning and time takes a toll for these trust issues especially in man and woman relation and the relation of this kind is like walking on a bare sword...

my belief, the character had a graph... a bold and striking one, that was created between gul, ved raj, and lead writers... but then it grew nuanced, extremely and subtly, making him into a real character, one you would want to meet on the streets and be stunned by... this came from barun and the director who vibed with him. they really entered the character and brought out his gut and soul.

and barun, if you have watched baat, has a way of merging with his character. no distance. it made a not too well written shravan real and unforgettable, despite weird storyline.

it made asr epic.

i would like to see what some other actor might have done with asr. can't think of even one who would have done that dragging to the temple without having me angry and hating the character. barun manged to make me feel his pain, sometimes more than khushi's.

yes, gul is talented. and i am appreciate her insisting on asr as a character.

but the talent that stunned me was the actor's. especially when he rapped with his director.

it is not the most subtly written character, yet that feeling of it beyond just the words, that reaching into his inner spaces, that gave the character an extraordinary subtlety.

with hardly any words, an actor conveyed so much.

his whole body spoke, his every expression belonged to asr. even when he is mushy brother he is hot tycoon asr with a "dard" in him... even when he is patting a little girl's cheek or being kissed by her that hot asrness never leaves... walks into his home tired... asr... walks in angry, also asr, walks in lonely and missing someone, abs asr. pruning shrubs he's asr and of course at ar, he's all asr. nowhere does the character slip... in specific scenes, in casual scenes.

in baat he was easygoing sweet shravan, straight after that he was not sweet at all, rigid, inert asr. then asr evolving and letting go of his shell, while remaining himself

i have never seen anyone do this across a year and a half of continuous work with hardly any breaks. okay i have found a few places where he might have done a bit better... maybe 10 scenes out of 398 episodes. not bad, huh.

so to me, yes of course gul thought of asr, but who delivered asr to me was barun and his director. and barun as an actor... that he, untrained and so young, could delve so deep and give all that was asked of him and that he asked of himself... breathtaking.

personally, while writing fan fiction i know exactly how much i owe to barun and sanaya. whatever i write, the reader can picture perfectly because they can see asrand khushi, they know him and her so so precisely. and dare i say it... especially him.

when shyam said pity you can't hit the rewind but in in real life, asr reacted so instantly and with such a complex mix of remorse, hurt, anger... and a sense of a desert bereft in the air. i always marveled at how deep the feelings went how deftly he skirted melodrama.

When I am angry I become quiet and as I say I feel the frustration in u and u have a right to be...but this is the thing , he grabbed my attention in Dil Mil Gaye and then I saw Sharaddha and a glimpse of ASR is there too...Sharvan in BHPH has something in it too despite there is no story but he has something in it...Then 360 degrees angle from there to ASR and the original team you mentioned along with Nissar who I adored the most made this character the moment 1st Epi came out.He gripped our hearts the very second we have him on the screen.You are so right Gul did give us ASR and I salute hi=er in that sense as she has guts for that and wished we could have a true ASR the way she had designed it in the beginning but then she lost interest in her own character WHY .

But Barun kept it right next to his skin though Sanaya lost hers and went with the flow , he stood stand still with his throne,

But I have a different perspective , when the forced marriage was imposed , Gul got faded to this story because she didn't plan like that...I can feel and see it but again if she is that strong writer then she could have the power to bring it back with million ideas but nahhh...totally lack of interest there.

No doubt he was worth fighting for , other wise we wouldn't be here...

that "window of happiness" 👏 👏 khushi leaves open no matter what, a beautiful trait in the character. helps her survive more or less whole. it is great at healing the insides in asli duniya too, a spot of fearless sanka that won't be daunted is good for me.

I love her spirit of fighting and find happiness in small things and that is one of her trait which ASR fell for...Whenever she acts and shows her spirit he just wants to hug her and that's why never leaves a chance to touch her...He got to see her spirit and got stunned on his sorry night when he felt that she is all alone in this world and still can have this much courage to be happy and keep everyone happy...

you are right, he needs that smile of hers for his happiness. killing that smile is like killing himself. later he does thats illy get in the way thing just to get her to show her teeth... awww. but here it catches him unawares and without realising he responds. beautiful.

Isn'tthat beautiful feeling that he hates her but her sanak brings colors and springs colors in him and he is not having any control over it besides he wants control...I just smiled with him...how cute this character is

of shyam, lust and gulal that is sign of sindoor. remeber that disgusting scene in gh when he took the puja thaal from dm and threw the sindoor all over khushi's picture in a bid to convince the family that he s meant for khushi? i almost threw up watching that.

i read that red in the wrong hand as a sign of rape. as egregious and invasive really his intention, his action. there was something so disgusting about it all... and therefore khushi's violent emotional reaction to it felt right. not melodramatic.

as you say, in anjali's completely vacuous smile watching husband about to put colour on khushi is a huge gap... the same girl who insisted that chhotey put colour on his wife later. but i guess she is meant to be completely completely blind to all shyam's flaws, in fact she is obsessed, and can't see what's staring at her in the face. or i was just the usual choppy writing.,.. no attention to detail.

How can be a woman so blind , yes I can't complain as I saw one...met one , and had chat one too...I think it's just the mind set thing...but why ...Brain needs fresh air to think and react for every unusual thing.How can u survive being dead practically like that

you remembered his smile on that day after diwali, very nice... dancing oo la la... yeah when she loved or was loved by his family, somehow she became even more irresistible to him. he so needs her pure unadulterated sanka... this episode to em felt really about asr more than anyone else. she was like this bhang rushing around the place and he went wherever she went, drinking in, feeling the high, not understanding maybe, but not able to walk away...

Totally agreed , she was his bhanng and he was practically saving her from Shyam who is our cupid...but in this process he lost his balance of control and fell in her embrace of happiness...apne dil ki baat ...keh di Bas...

your take on khushi and what makes her her, brilliant. she is hard to say no to... pure and mad as she is.

it did seem as though her prediction that holi will make everything alright was right... at least for now.

my point re asr simply was, without barun and the director/s, asr for me personally would not have been who he became. initial scenes had a lot of nissar parvez and team, later memorable ones many were directed by arshad khan, and all along up to the wedding there was good work with lalit mohan.

of course, asr's character graph was an interesting one as i mentioned earlier. i liked many things in the basic character: progressive, individualist, unafraid, takes mother's name.

and more.

and full marks to whoever wrote him, gul, ved raj, gautam hegde all. but the character depended a lot on portrayal, especially since he did not speak much... most of him had to be conveyed by the expressions and body language, especially initially.

and that to my mind was crucial to making this character work and reach another level. i do give the credit for that hugely to barun and director. and in some instances to barun only... he did manage to surprise his directors too at times in reading asr as he himself has mentioned.

barun was not the team's first choice... nor sanaya. i am glad that something conspired to bring him here.

and toward the end as the people who thought up asr decided to take him on another path altogether, full marks to the actor for hanging on no matter what.

honestly, without him, and even with all that was put into writing the character, i would not be here. also, i do believe many shades were added to asr post initial days and influenced by the actors and their interaction. for example, humour was added much later as ved raj mentioned when they realised barun sanaya could pull it off. and a cool sense of humour funnily became as much a part of asr.

kudos always to the people who first conceptualised asr. gave me a chance to fall madly again.😆

Agree with you. But, for me the actor and the character are like two eyes to ASR and its impossible to choose one, hence its always both for me. Will I be/ was I at any other place if Barun played some other character on TV other than ASR? Absolutely not. That's why I can't credit just the actor. But everyone involved are equally important as well. (May be even that set boy who brought all those tiffin packets and helped Barun maintain his glucose levels and focus!😊)

I didn't really feel for Khushi post that forced marriage the way one should perhaps. Is Sanaya a bad actress? By no means. Becos Khushi's pain was never really portrayed as much as her sanka side was explored. That's when I had to credit the script for establishing this man's pain so well since the start.

ASR is an embodiment of intensity at many levels from his being taciturn to his breathtaking looks, to his drab interior to his quiet confidants to his purest conscience and is endearing as a package and can't take anyone away from it. It could be subjective what appeals to one.
