Rekha as Miss havisham in fitoor

After days of speculations, evergreen actress Rekha has got on the board of Abhishek Kapoor's forthcoming feature 'Fitoor'. The film is a screen adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'Great Expectations' and will see Aditya Roy Kapur playing 'Pip' and Katrina Kaif as 'Estella'. Initially Abhishek had approached Sridevi for the the pivotal role of 'Miss Havisham', however the 'English Vinglish' diva refused the offer and the director moved on to his next choice, Rekha. 'Fitoor' is bannered under Disney UTV Studios.

Great choice... With Sri I would have had to see the movie 4 times to figure out what she is speaking... 😆...

I think Rekha would suit the role of Ms. Havisham perfectly. However, I do hope that the movie lives up to the expectations since it is trying to adapt a classic.

Rekha is made for this role . The loneliness , which havisham goes through can by portrayed only by rekha. it was sport of rekha to play such charecter which reflects the negetive side of living lonly life. I feel sridevi couldnt have been able yo do justice like rekha could do.

Oh God Awesome, seeing Rekha in an actual good film for after such a long time.

Ah! Great Expectations is one of my favorite classics. My heart always reaches out for Pip's hopeless infatuation with Estella and Estella's intolerable cruelty towards him. This is a tough classic to recreate. It has been made several times before, some successful, some unsuccessful.

Rekha is apt to play Ms. Havisham. I think she can play the battiness and cattiness to the tee. I can picture her neurotically manipulating Pip and Estella as misguided vengeance.

However, Katrina is a bad choice for Estella. You need someone much more accomplished to play Estella. There are layers to her character and I don't think Katrina can essay all the layers. She is stunning and gorgeous, but she is cold and unloving too. This bit Katrina can do. However, it is not that Estella doesn't care for Pip, her upbringing is just so damaging that she is incapable of loving him or feeling compassion. That complexity of caring for Pip, but incapable of feeling or showing any sort of affection is a complexity that very few people can portray. Estella also is supposed to have sizzling chemistry with Pip yet at the time be stone cold to Pip, that's also hard to portray.
