I have not understood the story so far

Well basically Laajo is a village girl, living in the same village as Nikhil's paternal grandfather. He goes there on his birthday to visit (his birthday also marks the 10th anniversary of his older brother Aakash's accidental death for which his mom holds him responsible even though he was only 11 at the time and it was an accident (Aakash happened to be the mom's favourite son), and there he runs into Laajo.

At first LaKhil (Laajo and Nikhil) are at loggerheads with each other but eventually they end up becoming somewhat like friends thru their various interactions with each other (also all of Nikhil's friends go to the village with him as well except for Ishana as she had a death in her family therefore she was unable to go with them). Anyway, Laajo (who is a bright 18 year old girl) happens to be engaged and her wedding is to take place while Nikhil and his friends are still in the village. On the day of the wedding there is some drama about dowry and Laajo breaks off the wedding so to speak. Of course her parents are pissed with her so she decides she's going to run away and go to the city to study. As she's running away her foot gets stuck under some rocks or something in the river. She calls for help and Nikhil happens to hear her and saves her as the dam is about to open and she would have drowned. They end up on the wrong side of the riverbank and are unable to return home that night. The next morning when the water level subsides Nikhil carries Laajo home (through the village with plenty of onlookers) as she had hurt her ankle. Needless to say, talk about the two ensued as they were together the whole night. Nikhil's baba tries to talk Nikhil into marrying Laajo to save her but he decides against it. As he and his friend's head back to the city they run into two young brothers. Nikhil is distracted and almost runs one over. This brings fb's of his own brother's death and this prompts him to go back and marry Laajo (something to do with his baba saying take Laajo's hand and save her, his brother crying to him to not let his hand go as he is about to fall from the roof and of course the 2 boys one crying as he thought his brother was going to get run over).

The two end up getting married and he brings her back home with him to the city. Everyone is shocked that he would marry a village girl as he has a long time girlfriend of 7 years (since he was in his early teens 14-15 years). Anyway, basically Nikhil defends her in the beginning when the family wants her to go back and at one point try to throw her out during the night but Nikhil came just in the nick of time to prevent them from doing so. Basically since then she has been the target of the trio (Barka (Nikhil's mom), Nikhil Nani and Ishana (Nikhil's gf) many plans. In the beginning it was the trio (Barka, Nani and Ayesha (Nikhil's older sister) but since Laajo was basically responsible for saving Ayesha from her BF bad intentions, Ayesha has backed off of trying to get rid of her but hasn't really supported her either as one would have hoped. She basically chooses not to get involved in her mom and grandmom's plans. So because their plans were unsuccessful Nani and Barka decide to rope in Ishana and between the 3 of them they devise plans that will make Nikhil start to hate Laajo. This is basically where the story has gotten to thus far and Laajo has been dealing with it but now that Ishana decided to get married to Kunal (also a plan to bring Nikhil to heal as the rest wasn't working to the point that they wanted), Nikhil basically lashed out at Laajo saying she ruined his life, etc., etc., and that because of her "his Ishana" was getting married to Kunal. This is what eventually prompts Laajo to leave and this is where we were at with Monday's episode and on Tuesday you see her finally walking out the door)...

There is of course plenty more to be added but then this super long post will end up becoming a whole story😆

Hope that helps...

Also, wanted to add that at one point during the beginning of their marriage, Barka (Nikhil's mom) approached him saying that if he takes Laajo back to her village for good then she will "forgive" Nikhil everything (meaning her holding him responsible for for her older son's accidental death). Nikhil decides to take Laajo back as he has thirsted for his mother's forgiveness and love for 10 long years but once he is in the village he is unable to do so as he feels he cannot do that to either Laajo's parents or her. He decides to bring her back but does let her know that he'll never be able to love her as she should be loved by her husband as he already loves someone else. Laajo, being only 18 and very innocent in these matters, declares that it is okay as she has lots of people to love her and starts rhyming off a long list of people including her parents, sisters, friends and even her cows😆. Later on, Laajo thinks back to this time after she has fallen in love with Nikhil...

I still don't understand why Lajjo or Nikhil are even upset.

Nikhil had made it very clear to Lajjo that he would not be able to love her, and Lajjo had happily accepted this. The pact was that Lajjo will not go back to Sonbarsa and hurt her parents and rather will stay in Nikhil's house. Both agreed to this.

As I have expressed before, in all this situation the one person who is wrong is Nikhil. Neither his mother nor his grandmother. Their wrongs are that they employ mean tricks on Lajjo and disrespect her which they should not. Ishana did the right thing because that was the only way to get straight answers from Nikhil.

Nikhil is now awakened that he has to take a stand either to respect his marriage with Lajjo or to take her out of his life and give her a chance to grow. Lajjo has awakened too from her trance she had fallen in to, and understands that Nikhil loves only Ishana. I totally respect her decision of leaving Nikhil and Ishana alone.

I Do NOT think any of the characters is wrong in their own way. We all have gray shades, and so does Mom, Nani, Ishana and many others. I love Ishana's mother and so do I like Nikhil's mom ( except that she has to treat Lajjo more humanely). As a mom they are trying to make Nikhil realize his mistakes ( of marrying someone without thinking about the consequences and hurting so many people) and are pushing him to take a stand either way. He can't ride two boats.

This is how I see it, I think everyone is beautifully portrayed.

My wish was that Nikhil shows compassion and helps Lajjo groom and educate and be independent.

Nice post.

While I am 100% in agreement with you that only Nikhil is too blame for this whole fiasco, I cannot however blame Laajo. Yes she knew that Nikhil loved someone else but not until after she was married and he tried returning her back home. Had he told her before the wedding then I would agree that she could also be to blame. And although she knew that Nikhil loved someone else, she was too innocent to really understand that love nor expected to fall in love with him. So why wouldn't this effect her? Any normal person would be effected if they were in this scenario. I think even in a loveless marriage it would be hard to accept that not only that your husband loves someone else but he, his gf and his family seem to openly flaunt it in front of her on a daily basis.

I also have to respectfully disagree with your view that his mom or nani are not wrong. As Barka likes to say all the time that Nikhil is old enough to make his own decisions than she should leave well enough alone and stay out of his business. Nothing her, her mom or Ishana have done till now is "right". They need to let Nikhil make his own decisions rather than try to "paint" Laajo in a bad light. Look at all of those incidents that they created to make Nikhil hate Laajo? What was right in any of that? I don't agree with the saying "all's fair in love and war" I'm more of an advocate of "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was, and always will be yours. If it never returns, it was never yours to begin with."

Awesome post btw, I enjoyed reading your views!
