Only Parineeti could pull off the quirkiness, says Vinil Mathew

So far, her role in Hasee Toh Phasee has been the most challenging for Parineeti Chopra, who plays a "weird" scientist. "I am shown having mood swings. My behaviour and body language keep changing and people around me are constantly trying to figure out what is wrong. To show quirkiness without overacting and looking fake was difficult," says Parineeti, further adding, "I had to stay very focused. It is very easy in a romcom to either play a shy or a bubbly girl with a love story in the backdrop along with lovely songs and climax. This film hooked me completely." Incidentally, Parineeti was director Vinil Mathew's first choice for the role. Says Vinil, "I felt that only she could pull off the quirkiness that the character required." Adds producer Karan Johar, "This is Parineeti's most unusual role till date."
