'I will do only one more Munnabhai film'

Hirani intends to pass the tale of Munna and Circuit on to other filmmakers

There's both good and bad news for all Munnabhai fans. Raj Kumar Hirani is definitely doing the third part of the satire, taking Munnabhai to the US. But in all probability, will do another film before moving to Munnabhai Part 3.

Begins Hirani, "I'm writing two scripts with my Munnabhai writer Abhijat Joshi, one of them obviously is the third Munnabhai film. In May, I'm going away from Mumbai. Chances are, I'd be first doing a satire on the education system in our country.

It's a very funny take on the malaise that has seeped into our education system. It's about how grades have become more important than real education. I think there's some- thing seriously wrong with our education system.

Kids spend their whole lives living their parents' dreams rather than their own. Recently, I met an engineer from the IIT who wanted to make films. Education should be a matter of choice, and that's what my film will be about."

Script matters

He continues, "When you sit to write another Munna-bhai, it obviously takes time to better your score so far. It took me quite a while to get Munna and Circuit in place.

Now that they're well-known characters, and I've lived their lives twice over, the third one is taking me longer than I thought.

And unless I get a good script I won't make the third part. Even during Lage Raho Munnabhai, I didn't push the script. I waited almost two years to let it crystallise."

Hirani isn't afraid of doing one more Munna-bhai film. "When I did the second Munnabhai film I'd wonder why I was doing it but not any more. However, I'll do just one more Munnabhai film and let others do more," he signs off
