television with her daily soaps,
was recently in Jaipur to attend
the Jaipur Literature Festival. In
conversation with Siddharth
Dhanvant Shanghvi, at the
session titled 'Each Other's
Stories', Kapoor shared a lot
about her personal as well as
professional life.
Siddharth began
the conversation talking about
Ekta's experience with Indian
television. He asked her, "How
did you venture in the world of
television, when you had such a
strong film background?"to
which Ekta promptly
replied,"Creating a world
through television was an easy
escape for me. Unlike my
contemporaries including
Abhishek Bachchan,Karisma
Kapur,Bobby Deol, who were all
star kids, I was an obese child
who could not even have
thought of venturing into films
as an actor. Despite being a star
kid, there was something that
made me different from them.
May be God had some different
plans for me." Talking about self-
image, Ekta also said,"I don't
need to live up to others'
expectations. I am what I am.
And that is the reason that I
brought obese characters like
Ram Kapoor on screen, which
were liked by all. The day you
will start thinking about what
people think about you, you will
be finished. Your wings will be
clipped."
