So my first post in this forum. Work in the media industry and used to be a regular on IF earlier but later stopped posting.
Have liked this show from the time i understood the story. (the initial promo really confused me 😆😆) and esp. loved the last 2 episodes esp., with the awesome characterizations shown... the small nuances that changed the cliches & banalities into very real, believable and flesh n blood people...
1. Loved why Zain doesnt want to marry her, coz he's a carefree, bindaas guy who wants to just live life for now, but not someone who's a good-for-nothing shirker. He has a strong sense of right & wrong - against dahej, comforting her, staying on coz of a sense of 'what is due to his father's trust'
2. Esp. loved why Alia didnt want to marry him, which otherwise would have seemed a good match from her POV and in her predicament. The fact that he is immature, against her grounded self. And esp. the fact that it would seemingly give substance to the unfounded aspersions cast on her characters. Really made her rise in my mind as a rare self-respecting character
3. Loved how Usmaan dealt with the situation. He was not like a typical GEC father being scandalized by the situation and jumping to wrong conclusions about his children. He was like a regular, sensible yet strong n principled father who correctly gauged the situation and scolded where it was due - he knew the problems of a joke taken too far and in possibly not very good taste yet he knew that his son was a good person capable of keeping Alia happy. He was the best friend to both and genuinely realized that these 2 will keep each other happy coz of what he knows about both of them, something that even they dont know about the other yet.
This was all the good part... BUT...
The one part i felt uncomfortable about was that... till now theirs has been a very equal sparring, with equal mischief, attitude and even reluctance on both sides... however with yesterday's episode, it seems as if he and his family will see Alia's change of stand as a betrayal. And i fear that the equation post marriage will, instead of a mutual irritation, become a one-way thing wherein the onus of proving that she didnt trap him into it will be on her... SO DON'T WANT THAT. SO WANT THEM AS MUTUALLY RELUCTANT SPOUSES TO REALIZE THE OTHER'S WORTH 😭
