The beauty of the story of Alexander's life and achievements is enhanced by his having died so young leaving behind a name that would last forever. The tragedy of his failure to return to Macedonia, his homeland, and to his mother and fellow Macedonians is one of those aspects of history that have added to the fascination people have with the great warrior 2300+ years later.
He who conquered the world at such a young age, left with nothing, a mortal being as the rest of us, but gave the world a legacy that would be unmatched for millenia.

Insaan chala jaata hai aur reh jaata hai to bas naam.

Alexander truly achieved this. Had he chosen life he would have surely still been a great military commander, perhaps even the greatest, but would his name have lived on this way? Would we still be discussing him today? Who knows?

As Aunty said, "no one can evade what is fated for him or her".
