I don't know if I can call Devsena a very strong character either.. Yes she was courageous enough to call spade a spade in front of Shivgami, she was brave enough to challenge people based on her principles, she was also a warrior princess who defended her kingdom with all her might and also chopped off the hands of the man who tried to inappropriately touch her... But But But, she despite having so many capabilities and exemplary will power does not at all tries to reach out her son... She like Anusuya waits for her son to return and save her based on some very strong divine belief she had, that her son is alive and would come for her... As good as this all " Maa ka belief " sounds it is very unrealistic... There were soldiers behind her son, who would have not flinched before killing him at all... Katappa asked her that if she wished, he could assist her in escaping from the mahal but she does not... I assume that Katappa would have rendered his help even before... One reason could be that she held grudges against Katappa that he killed her husband and didn't wish to take his help.. But that was not the case .. She didn't hold a strong grudge and definitely not stronger than her son's life then why she does not try to reach out her son is beyond my understanding.. Even if her belief would have saved his life, there was absolutely no guarantee that her son would have landed in safe hands..
My problem is that they restrain the characters of these otherwise strong women to pave way for heroes to step in ... Anusuya is not a weakly written character either.. She too calls out people when she believes they are wrong... Classic example is Darius .. But God knows why her mind and bravery goes to vacation when it comes to Shivdutt... Like I said in my another post.. Anusuya is not just another bollywood mother in this show... She is the counterpart of Olympia in Bharat... She is to Porus what Olympia is to Alexander... She is supposed to be the king maker, the source of the defender's power... She shouldn't be dependent on Puru for safeguarding her particularly when she knows the skills of fighting and had clearly shown to have an upper hand on Shivdutt... Sadly the ganika and Malay appeared to be much more stronger than her.. Both were more vulnerable than her, both incapable to fight against Shivdutt, yet both stood with their head held high, unafraid in front of the monster... Anusuya should have killed Shivdutt before he harmed one of her subjects... PR ka kya hai woh toh kisi ko bhi apna raja maan lete hain... Today Anusuya gave a very encouraging speech to all the ladies to fight for their right and respect.. Rati was brilliant in the scene... She depicted a fierce queen... But all of this won't make sense unless she overpowers Shivdutt on her own merit and does not wait for Puru to hand over the sword or that arrow in her hands...
There are better ways to pave ways for heroes to become heroic... Mahendra would have killed Bhallaldev for his people ... Puru is fighting for his motherland, he is the one to stop Alexander... How much more credit do they want to put on their heads... They are simply restraining the prowess of these ladies and forcefully not letting their (Anusuya and Devsena ) characters reach their full potential to put that winning batch on the shoulders of the heroes... At least they should have tried to run or escape from the clutches of these villains... Even if they would have not succeeded, I would have proudly considered them as very strong characters... In that case it would have been more emotional when their respective sons would have come to save them... Par yahan toh yeh dono hile tak nahin hain Bhallal aur Shivdutt ki kaid se...
Zoya in tiger Zinda hai was better than these two... At least she didn't need Tiger all the time to carry out her missions... Even when she got kidnapped by Usman, it didn't looked fake and forced... She got trapped in the line of duty.. Toh Tiger ka bachana bhi itna bura nahi laga...😆
