Just for fun ...
Rohit is killing it as Alexander, but what if he had played Porus? How would things be different?

I have the following ideas:
  1. I feel he would have even done the lecturing with style if the script forced him to.
  2. No blonde hair of course but those massive turbans and jewelry on the head
  3. No green eyes
  4. Just wondering what his chemistry would have been like with Rati

Your thoughts?

I think he would have done great job as porus.

1. His chemistry with rati would be awesome. But I think laksh looks better with rati aka anusuya.

2. He would have looked better with laachi as compared to laksh.

3. And he might have looked more handsome as blonde hair doesn't suit him.

I think Rohit was born to play Alexander!! I guess that is why Siddharth Tiwary, since the inception of the show, kept on convincing him to do the role even when Rohit refused it twice! ❤️

Is it true 😲 ? Rohit refused twice to play Alexander's role 😲 ? Thankfully, he got convinced at last and played Alexander's role because I simply can't imagine anyone else who would have done this portrayal better than him !

According to one of his interviews, Rohit said that he knew that Porus was in the planning stages while he was still doing another show of Siddharth Tiwary called Razia Sultan, and it was during this time that Siddharth Tiwary had offered him the role of Alexander and Rohit refused it twice because he was not completely sure that he would be able to do justice to the role...after all it was Alexander the Great he was being asked to play! But then he said that Siddharth Tiwary finally convinced him since he had complete faith in Rohit's acting ability to pull the character off convincingly! Glad he agreed to play the role so that people like me, who have not seen any of his previous work, got to witness such an excellent performer on screen!👍🏼👏
P.S.: Rohit also said that he never ever dreamed that he would ever play the role of Alexander the Great...he said that as per what he always thought his dream role would be, this role is way way ahead of it! ❤️

I would have been all ears for his bhashans, by god if those were given with that same husky and baritone voice he has 😆 No blonde hair ? Still Rohit so I shall be able to manage it 😛 No green eyes ? SQUARE UP ! I am ready to fight 😆 If we still have those expressive and beguiling eyes, the iris's color shouldn't matter much 😳 And I've never thought about his chemistry with Rati so I have no opinion 😕

I agree, he was born to play Alexander. I just can't imagine anyone else doing this role or playing Alexander in a way other than what we've seen so far. It has been a great showcase of Rohit's talent where he got to portray a wide range of emotions. I have to give it to the creatives for providing him the environment to perform, especially the entire Macedonian setup. Choosing Rohit was definitely one of the best decisions Sid T made, and saying yes was definitely one of Rohit's best. He really grabbed this opportunity and made it something else altogether. I can just imagine that other PHs are already eyeing him for future projects. I think everyone here agrees that if he'd had more screen time, this show would have been at an entirely other level.

@Taherav, I've also watched that interview of Rohit's where he said this role has been beyond any dream role he had ever imagined. If he's doing a tough role like Alexander so mind-blowingly well, can you imagine him in other roles? Wow! I can't wait, and I do hope he won't make us wait too long for his next project. There are thousands of fans, like you and me, who've discovered Rohit through this series and he's made a spectacular first impression. I am sure they have already been looking for his previous shows. As Mirza he gained a huge female fan following but with Alexander Rohit has not just grown that but also made thousands of new male fans who admire and idolize him. Because the episodes are uploaded on youtube, people from all over the world are watching and commenting about him, all the way to Tanzania even! I am glad that I didn't give up on this show and continued to watch it if only just for Alexander's scenes. It's been a great pleasure seeing Rohit grow with his character. Even now, I go back and watch the old episodes and I never cease to be amazed by how many shades he's played already in the limited screen time he's gotten.

@Vicariously, let's not kid ourselves - his eyes are probably his greatest asset and he uses them very well to emote. 😆 In theory, there's no reason why he couldn't have kept his natural eye color if he had played Porus, of course. Agree with you, his voice modulation is superb! As for his hair color, as I said earlier, this is the first of his shows that I've watched so I was introduced to him as a blonde. Of course, I knew it wasn't natural but the first and only impression I had of him was blonde hair, green eyes, and ferocious expression on his face. That image has stuck so when I later saw him in other roles or past interviews with his original hair it was a bit weird for me. I think he rocks both anyway! Very few actors, if any, would have had the dedication to dye their hair for such a long period of time for a TV show. Kudos! He needs a few good hair spa treatment sessions to restore the texture of his hair after the show is over considering the damage done to it due to the styling.

Just like Alexander he has proved over and over again the power of tadbeer. He has shown us the true meaning of quality versus quantity. Every performance of his leaves us wanting an ENCORE!!! I'm sure if Rohit had played Porus he would have been just as convincing with his own completely different take on the character.

No matter what Siddharth Tiwary is doing with the show...him bringing Rohit onto the bandwagon to play Alexander was the best move and I am so glad Rohit accepted the challenge after his initial hesitation!😃 More screen time? I feel they should have just planned a show on him..who wouldn't want to watch a show on Alexander and especially when Rohit would be playing him?!👍🏼
Are they really..the episodes being uploaded on youtube? I have tried going back to older episodes to relive his moments as well but the only videos I get are of Laksh/ Porus and the Dasyu/ PR track 😕. I have caught up on a few random videos of him as Mirza from Razia Sultan on youtube...loll seeing him in his natural curly, brown coloured hair is a bit weird for me at this point 😕

Rohit said his initial preparation for the role included reading up on the written sources about Alexander...I am sure if he had been cast to play Porus, he would have done the same for that role as well and we would have seen a different approach to the role...but again I am GLAD he is playing Alexander😆😳!
