I don't know about the child, but Puru has clearly knocked down the Macedonian soldier who was probably commissioned with the task of killing the child. Hephaestion is standing by, so he is not involved in the dust up. The poor parents would have been terrified, and no one else would have lifted a finger.

Now, as I wrote to Alaria on the Third time... thread, Alexander was not trying to get Barsine to crack. That would not have helped him in any way to locate the Bharatiya who was helping her and her family. He could not have anticipated that the child would react the way he did, but he grabbed the unexpected opportunity and staged this drama to make the Bharatiya break cover and expose himself.

Which is what Puru has done now. What remains to be seen is whether Alexander imprisons him. or, when he is sure that Puru is from Bharat, decided to pick his brains on Bharat. Let us see what actually happens.
