With Kksum off the air, Aaksha is now on Piya Ka Ghar
Sapana Patil
Aashka Goradia, who essayed the role of Kumud in Sony's Kkusum (now off the air), will shed the dutiful daughter's image for Zee's Piya Ka Ghar, and take on the more risqu role of a mujra dancer.
Producer Sheel Kumar throws light on her character: "Aashka plays the role of Chandni. She is a mujra dancer who performs for high society. In due course it will be revealed how a problem in the family causes her to take up this line to support herself. In the coming days, her track will show her meeting Yashoda's younger son. She will save his life and the two will start to like each other," he says.
For how long will her track play on the show, we ask? "Knowing her background, Chandni feels that she won't be accepted by Yashoda as the daughter-in-law of the house. So she distances herself from Yashoda' son. But her character will be brought back after 30 to 40 episodes," he reveals.
As for now, a mujra item is being planned for the serial. "We are planning to shoot a full-length mujra sequence. The song has not yet been decided but it will be a song like 'Maar daala' from Devdas. We will shoot for the song in a day or two," adds Kumar.
The show has many twists to offer. Recently, Achint Kaur was added to the show (her track is over now). Juhi Parmar (Kumkum of Kumkum) may soon be a part of Piya Ka Ghar. "The show completes three years on December 2," says the proud producer.
Aashka Groadia will make her appearance on the soap this week.
