When i was a child we did get "licks"... personally though for me that was an extremely rear occasion, now thinking about it I can't remember why... but what ever we got it for was because of one of three reasons...
1. we were being rude and talking back
2. We got in trouble by getting into mischief generally just getting into trouble lol.
