Actor Varun Badola, who is
currently seen in Phir
Subah Hogi, and director
Anurag Basu go back a long
way. Basu had directed him
in the hit serial Koshish Ek
Asha. Recently, Anurag
dropped in on the sets of
Phir Subah Hogi to meet
Varun when he got to know
he was shooting in the
vicinity. Says Varun,
"Anurag had dropped by
for a casual chat when he
got to know I was shooting
in Naigaon. He was
shooting at a nearby
location and it was the
perfect opportunity for us
to catch up. The next day,
during my break, I went to
meet him on his sets. We
chatted endlessly over
numerous cups of cutting
chai. Anurag and I have
known each other for ages.
He was the director of
Koshish Ek Asha, where I
played the male
protagonist, Neeraj. He is
one of the few people who I
have stayed in touch with
all these years." It's a lesser
known fact that before Life
In A…Metro, Murder and
Gangster, Anurag started
his career directing TV
serials like Tara, one of the
longest running serials in
the '90s. But if you think
that there are any plans of
Varun being cast by
Anurag, think again. Varun
clarifies that they don't
discuss work nor do they
think of each other as an
actor and director. "We are
buddies," he informs.
