"I never thought I would see you again..." She whispered.
"Well life doesn't goes like we plan it... In our head..." He replied.
"After that day, I would have never imagined something like this... Meeting you here... In new York... At a book store..." she tried starting a conversation.
"Destiny I guess... Or call it a plain coincident..." he said shrugging his shoulders.
"Hmm... So how's life...??" She asked, a bit scared of his reply.
"Life is life..." He replied smartly, making her curious.
"Are you busy today...?? Can we go and grab some coffee..." Meher said, making a first move.
"Is it a date...??" He smirked.
Meher couldn't help but remember the days she spent with him. Her fond memories.
"Yes, if that makes you happy..."
Abeer quietly followed meher as she started walking.

"I'm sorry abeer..." Meher apologised. The first thing she said to him after they walked out of the coffee shop.
"For what meher...??"
"Don't make it difficult abeer... I'm sincerely sorry..."
"For what baby... For going away... For cheating on me..."
This was what she was avoiding all this time.
Meher took a deep breath and kept on walking, abeer walking beside her, his eyes on the road.
"I thought you were cheating on me..." Meher whispered trying to hold the tears pooled in her eyes.
"That's my apartment... Wanna come up..??" Abeer interrupted, ignoring meher and her words.
"Hmm..."
Meher followed abeer to his apartment and stood outside the door. Hundreds of thoughts running in her mind and millions of fears hiding in her heart. In her chest. What if he moved on with some another woman...?? Is his wife home...?? Does he has kids..?? A son like him or a daughter like his wife..??
"Come on meher... Get in..." Abeer said breaking meher's train of thoughts.
Meher shivered before entering in his apartment and when she looked around, she felt warm and being at home. The apartment had that touch... That Abeer-ish touch and it calmed her down.
"Coffee...??" He asked.
"Hmm... Black..." Meher replied only to be interrupted.
"Without sugar, just half a spoon of cream..." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Exactly..."
She removed her overcoat and sat on the couch till he prepared coffee. Her eyes landed on a towel that was lying on the couch opposite hers. She felt her lips curve into a smile automatically remembering his hgabit of throwing his wet towel here and there - his favourite spot being the couch.
"Here you go..."
Meher took her cup of coffee and looked at the couch once again. Abeer caught the hint in just a second and hurriedly got up to pick up the towel.
"Sorry for the mess... I was in a hurry this morning..." said abeer.
"Its ok..."
"Meher you thought I was cheating on you..." Abeer said after sipping the coffee.
"Yes... And I regret it... I know you didn't..." Meher replied with guilt visible in her eyes.
"You knew me way too much to know I would never cheat on the girl I married..." Abeer stated.
The exact thing meher had been telling her since 5 years. She knew her husband way too much to doubt on him of cheating on her.
"You were always coming home late, irritated always, too tired to even touch me... One thing lead to another... And then that secretary of yours... She always dropped hints that she has you for more time than me... She knows you better and I don't... Those cold looks and harsh words sowed those seeds in my mind. I started doubting you regardless of knowing you so well... And -"
"And what...??"
"And when I found a lipstick mark on the collar of your shirt. It made me furious. I confronted that woman and she showed me a photograph... You both kissing each other. Too intimate. And I felt my trust on you falling apart. I assumed you were cheating on me and as a revenge I went to a bar. A cheap motel..."
"That's it... You can leave... Nice meeting you..." Abeer got up and ordered meher to leave.
"Abeer... Abeer I didn't cheat on you... I swear... I was about to... But I didn't... I didn't abeer... I could never let a man touch me... It has always been you..." Meher confessed, her tears being the sole witness.

"Then why didn't you say it earlier...??? Why meher...?? Why did you have to leave me...??" Abeer asked grabbing meher by her shoulders and pulling her close. His eyes screaming his pain, agony and loneliness.
"I believed you cheated on me and when I failed at cheating on you, I was furious. Mad at me for loving you so much... So much that it hurted... I was miserable abeer... I couldn't face you... Though I wasn't the one who cheated. It was you... I don't know if you ever noticed or not, I wasn't doing well that time... I was losing my appetite, felt tired all day. Something was wrong with me. And me being the chicken I was back then, or should I say weak and incomplete without you, I lied. I told you I was cheating on you and needed to get away. I never fell out of love as I claimed then..."
Abeer stepped back a little and fell on the couch, unable to take it all.
"Abeer I had some major health issues when I left the house... Not deadly of course. One day at the hospital, I saw that woman who claimed to get you by hook or crook with another guy. She was the reason our marriage failed. The only person because of whom I was there at that hospital alone dealing with health issues along with being in state of depression. I found out that guy was her current boyfriend and she was pregnant. I confronted her again. This time to know that I doubted my husband falling for some cheap trick of hers... I failed as a lover and a wife abeer... No matter how much I wanted to come back to you, I couldn't... I couldn't..."

"Kyun itni der kar di meher...??? Kyun...???" Abeer asked, his voice choking by the end.
"I'm sorry abeer... I know its too late... You are probably married now... It isn't fair on that woman... That a random woman from your past walks in to your future... In her home... I should go..."
Meher hurriedly made her way to the door when he said something that stopped her immediately.
"Im married meher... To you... You are my wife..."
Meher turned around unable to believe her own eyes. This very thing she wanted to hear and believe from years, but somehow couldn't. Why...?? Because she failed as a wife, an ideal life partner...
"Really...?? I thought you moved on..." Meher whispered, with a smile these time. Tears still flowing through her eyes but this time they were tears of joy, happiness and reunion.
"I have been moving on but how can someone move away from life... You are my life... My love... My everything..." Abeer replied and opened his arms - for her.
Meher ran into his arms and hugged the love of her life after years.
"I love you abeer... I love you so so much... Never let me go..." She whispered against his chest.
"I love you more meher... Never doubt on our love... We have a long way ahead love..." Abeer told meher, his fingers running through her hair.
"Never... Never ever..." Meher said before leaning in for a kiss.
