LOL So I see pre-med being an unnecessary sir-dard has been established. 😆And I guess, but did I also mention you get paid? Cha-ching. 😆 And the family's in general agreement that Med-school is a serious investment and I'm realistic here, we're middle class, and I want my parents to have a happy oldie's life ya know? They've done a lot for me with that "she's the only child" mentality but there's only so much I can take before feeling burdened. Sorry, this wasn't meant to be all that emotional, I just couldn't help myself. Though tbh, that salary is probably a few dollars above minimum age so it's not a big deal, it's just that principal of finally being able to contribute something to the table ya know? But option 1 is more likely to give me a larger scholarship than option 2 tbh so does the cha-ching really help? Idk.But more importantly, I've heard from pre-med college counselors that the shadowing shit looks real good when applying to med school 😆 but yeah, it's shiz I'm doing now. But my senior internship gives me more opportunities than I had back as a volunteer so hopefully being an undergrad intern ups my permissions a bit more too 😆.Also apart from that, there's research opportunities at option 2 colleges that I admit option 1 has, but not at the same caliber as option 1.You're probably right, I really do prefer option 2 but the MCAT security in option 1 is something I'd be foolish to ignore. And distance for me is inevitable, unless I got to this one safety school I have on my list but I reaaally don't want to go here. Dorm life is really what completes the college experience here, and as opposed to distraction I personally see it as taking my first step at really learning what it is to be responsible for yourself and to take care of yourself when mom and dad aren't going to be waiting at home for you to cry/rant too--which has been a big part of my HS experience I really want to work on that. But I"m not gonna lie 6-7 hours is a lot. Idk if I can really do it.

I don't know about all the other stuff... it all comes down to personal preference. But I would suggest don't be penny wise, pound foolish. Earning a bit of money is great and learning to be independent is great... but your first goal is to get into medschool and get into a good residency. Do whatever will make your life easier to achieve those goals. The rest will come along anyways in time.
