if yash's mom had SAID that she doesn't want gurpreet to be her bahu because gur is a sikh, then I would've understood her better. If she is a hindu, and doesn't want a sikh bahu, then what's wrong with that? If she had given a legit reason, I would've respected her and her decision more. But the way she looked/talked with stuborness, I hated her cuz it seemed more like an ego issue than anything else.
I am a Muslim and I want my spouse to be Muslim. So what is wrong with that? Why would that offend anybody???????????????? What I look for in my husband is my personal preference. Life is not all about mush and if religion is an important part of your being and your daily life, then it is wise to find somebody who shares the "same beliefs".
Have you ever heard the phrase "opposites attract"? This is true when you are talking about personalities but not when you are talking about beliefs. There are research studies on this issue and all of them show that when you have a significant difference in beliefs and you feel STRONGLY about those beliefs, then the opposites won't attract. An extrovert may perfer an introvet spouse and vice versa. But when it comes to beliefs, it's a different case all togather.
