Detective Byomkesh Bakshy trailer: We FINALLY have a glimpse of the villain from Sushant Singh Rajput's detective saga!

The new trailer of the much awaited Dibakar Banerjee film is here. Watch video!

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and Feluda are probably India's best answer to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Ian Fleming's Jamesh Bond. The makers of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! recently released the second trailer of the film and this one makes the plot look even more murkier.

In many ways Byomkesh is mysterious, layered and he has become the benchmark for everything else in the Indian detective genre to follow. And Dibakar Banerjee has taken the Herculean task on his shoulders to depict this larger than life fictional detective in the most convincing way possible. Will Sushant Singh Rajput be the best choice for the role? Sure seems so going by whatever I saw in the first trailer and even in this one!

SSR reprises the role of the popular detective on the silver screen and in the film which is set against the backdrop of a torn Kolkata at the time of the first World War, Sushant as Bakshy Babu is out to solve his first case. The trailer has piqued my interest as the plot looks intriguing and the backdrop of World War makes the narrative even more exciting. Swastika Mukherjee brings the requisite glamour on the table but she is no less as a performer either. Her chemistry with Sushant is something to look forward to. The rock themed background score is engaging and I cannot wait for the film to hit theatres soon!

For all you fans of the detective series, this trailer shows a glimpse of the villain in the film. The villain will be as powerful as Byomkesh and would prove to be an apt Nemesis for Bakshy babu. So go ahead BollywoodLifers, check out the new trailer of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! right here and tell me what you think of it in the comments section below!

Director Dibakar Banerjee, who is gearing up for the release of "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!", the big screen adaptation of a fictional book character, says he's ready to make it a franchise if it rings a bell with the audiences.

"We would love to (make it a franchise), but we are waiting for the first film to do well. This is because fortunately or unfortunately, a film like this has not been made," Dibakar said here Monday at the second trailer launch of "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!".

"If audiences' hunger and thirst for such films increases and our first Byomkesh story catches on, then our franchise is ready and we would love this franchise to go forward," he added.

He further admits films based on spying were made in 1950s, but "with 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!', the attempt was to bring newness to this genre".

"Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" is based on the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by the Bengali writer Saradindu Bandyopadhyay.

Featuring actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role, the movie is slated to release April 3.
