Does your Nanni or Dadi wear backless blouses?

Have the writers not realized that Archana is a grandmother? My sister and I were mortified at these backless blouses. I am not a fan of these blouses and find them a popular trend on Indian shows. However, should not the writers realize that you need to dress the character in age appropriate clothing? What next for Archana? Seriously.

I just came from a wedding and a lot of the elders, particularly from the groom's side (Punjabis) were wearing deep back blouses with heavy sarees. I guess it's a personal choice. My Nani doesn't wear such blouses, but my cousin's Dadi wears them, and both of them are around the same age.

WOW! That is interesting...I wonder why the writers do not have Savita and the other woman wear them? How come those two are dressed conservatively as the other older characters on the show?
I am aware of the choli - but if it was that popular back in the old days, then how come we do not see this backless blouse fashion on older films? The blouses are conservative - longer sleeves, etc. Archana is supposed to be 60...

I am having a REAL hard time following what you have written in your last sentence.

As far as I know this fashion is very new. If you look at Bollywood throughout the ages, backless blouses are only recently the norm and truthfully, I do not know of any women who are grandmothers who dress with this type of blouse - like you said, it is not as though it cannot happen, but is this the norm in India - at least now?

I am not sure what your point is about bikinis - please explain. We're talking saree blouses.
