Why Ankita Mahate and not Deshmukh?

Any idea why Ankita is called Mahate and not Deshmukh? She is Soham's daughter and that makes her a Deshmukh, is it not ? 😕

Soham must have gone into hiding after the whole business with Gauri and jumping into the river thing. So he must have assumed a new identity.
