I think you have a good point. But I also think that actually it goes both ways.
I have sharply criticized Purvi for her acceptance of Ovi's unethical deal (and thereby putting Arjun in a bad position) for the sake of her mother and how she treated Onir on learning the truth or lie about Shalini. I do think that is ungrateful behavior.
But I have also appreciated her for doing things for all other family members and especially standing up for Soham. I have never used bad words for Purvi. I actually admire her quality of loyalty to her family and I think a lot of those who critique her are not out to get her. They just find some of her choices unfair.
As for Ovi fans, I think (may be I am wrong) that most people who side with her are her sympathizers and not necessarily her great admirers. After all, even though they all made mistakes, she is the one suffering the most. So, if we leave aside blame distribution, even at the level of basic humanity, she deserves sympathy.
I am an Onir fan, but I emphatically do not want Punir to reunite. It is best if he finds a way to give a quick divorce and the track ends with Arvi wedding. But he deserves to be appreciated and not to be trashed. As for his baby swapping mistake, he has been punished severely. No need to bring it up again and again.
So, when Ovi sympathizers/admirers or Onir fans read bashing remarks about them - and please acknowledge that there are some really bad words used for these characters - they are going to react. As an Onir fan, I feel that there is too much bashing of this guy for no obvious reason (calling him "creepy" and all) related to Purvi. What he did wrong, he got punished for it. I will not even repeat the words used for Ovi.
Who can have problem with some people having different likes and dislikes? There are going to be differences of opinions with such a large viewership. We all understand that.
But if the bitter debates that have gone on this forum have to end, bashing of all sorts will have to stop. It takes two sides to make it happen.
We all know that the track with the younger generation will soon end. And who knows what the plot with newer generation will be. So, it is just best to wait and watch and enjoy the last stretch of the younger generation track.
